We were a party of 10 people. 5 got there food at least 15 minutes before the rest of us.which wasn't too much of a problem. I had the large ribs chips and onion rings with coleslaw. Ribs were overdone and dry with some very strong bitter tasting bbq sauce spread over them. Chips overcooked. Best part was the coleslaw. My partner had the fish and chips. Fish...well. it was well overdone batter dark brown and tasted disgusting. She pulled it apart and found about 2 oz of very dried fish. She took it back to the bar and said it tasted disgusting and hardly any fish. All she got was a ..oh sorry about that. We have been going there a few years for parties and special events. The food has been OK until about a year ago when noticed going downhill a bit. Well that was the last time. Won't be having our custom anymore. Overall. Not much choice. Walking distance from our home so we have been enjoying many walks through the forest to have a drink or food or both! Never disappoints, large menu, friendly staff and perfectly cold wine. There are daily specials which include a curry a pasta and a wrap each day as well as freshly baked pizza from the pizza oven at weekends. Tonight we have been back as a table of 15- everyone enjoyed there meal which was served in a timely fashion and with smiles. The food is well priced and the portions are excellent. I like this place for it's simplicity. A basic menu but meals, snacks and sandwiches offered. Prices are reasonable. You can sit in or out. There is a covered area outside too which is great if the weather is a bit drizzly. My only real niggle here is that if you order a cup of tea the staff will put milk in - whatever amount they choose. I have asked for a small jug of milk on one occasion so whoever was drinking tea could make it to their taste.
