Where do we start with this absolutely amazing restaurant!? Myself and fiancé Adam absolutely love this place!
Tonight was our second visit here, we would have put a review up from last time but I stupidly lost the receipt with the names of the staff that looked after us, didn't want to get names wrong. So another excuse to come back 🤣
We first came on the 27th June 2021 after looking at our wedding venue. Nice random surprise date night to finish a lovely day. And Joanna, from the start was so very friendly and welcoming. We both like to venture on new food and this was my first visit to teppanyaki restaurant so I wanted to get the full experience.
We asked Joanna what she would recommend for sushi for us to try. After telling her a little bit about what we like and dislike. We ended up with the Dragon roll that had eel, let me tell you that it was gorgeous. Definitely not what you would expect in taste. But give it a try if you don't mind trying something new. We also had Sashimi Salmon and Tuna. We love fish but found this very overpowering due to it being larger slices of the fish. But regardless we still enjoyed it.
Then came the teppanyaki. We had Jeff, who was the head chef there last time we came. Not only was it entertaining like you'd expect but the food was top notch. We opted for duck and squid. Which is so very easy to ruin. But he got it just right. The sauce was delicious with the duck and Adams squid was cooked perfectly.
The whole night Joanna checked on us incase we needed anything or wanted to try anything else. Really appreciate the care to detail, not only Joanna and Jeff took for ourselves but also seeing the other staff care for other diners too.
Anyway, we came again tonight (20/8/21) and after taking our seats, Joanna came over and remembered who we were by name. Again we asked what she recommended and tried something different to last time. Ended up with Rainbow rolls, Spicy Beef maki and Yellow tail nigiri. Again, all very well prepared and tasted lovely! Couldn't fault it.
Because we enjoyed the Duck from last time we decided to get that again to share with garlic mushrooms and egg fried rice.
CC who was serving us asked and added lots of garlic for us which we liked. Again with the little show they provide to keep you entertained, even got me and the other couple on the table to join in on some of the fun. Trying and failing to get the egg into the hole 🤦🏻♀️🤣
Again, the food was amazing, CC cooked it so well and made sure we had everything we needed before cleaning up.
We are yet to try a dessert, but we have definitely enjoyed the sushi and teppanyaki a lot and always too full to get a 3 course in 🤣
We had a lovely chat to one of the other lads helping, unfortunately didn't get his name. We he asked a lot about if we enjoyed the food and chatting about our interest in trying different or unusual food. Like we said, you never know you don't like it, until you try it.
Anyway, I've chatted a lot, and there's more that I could say. But I'll just say if your looking for a friendly, fun filled, delicious night that's something a little bit different, Myself and Adam highly recommend to give this place a visit.
We will be back again to try something else and maybe get to the...
Read moreEating out as a group for a family occasion requires significant expense these days and needs to meet high expectations accordingly. This felt very cut back on everything other than the cost to the customer. Teppanyaki was rushed and plain, no-frills veg, small amount of egg some garlic and very little other seasoning. The egg was literally hurled at us in big chunks with a velocity which meant it was only ever going to land on clothes, hair and the floor. Either the chef had no skill at this or deliberately entertained himself in this way and it felt very much like the latter. I'm not sure why, we had not complained about anything by this point, despite being sat hungry at the table waiting for this chef for probably an hour. Then there was the meat and fish portion. We had a 12 year old boy with us who ordered a £40 dish, eat the lot and was still hungry. I could have easily eaten two portions personally. We also had Katsu, which tasted very much of Golden Dragon stock cubes. Oh and despite there being plenty of service staff we all felt aggrieved by a 10% service charge which is unusual for us and says alot. There was one occasion were I was trying to get a drink, there was at least 5 staff stood at the bar, I was looking straight at them waving my arm in the air for several minutes, they just seemed to look straight through me whilst they had a little natter amongst themselves. There was eight of us in the group, we asked for toothpicks they brought us two. We ordered 3 coffees one of them was cold upon arrival none were hot, presumably they'd been sat around for a while. These are all small petty things individually, but when combined together create a result sufficient enough to warrant leaving feedback, which I truly don't often do. I do so now not for my pleasure or to have a moan but to raise a red flag to the management. The days of taking customers for granted have passed and long-term survival is worth much more than a quick buck. But it's for you to consider this and determine the appropriate action. Maybe we visited on a bad night or I'm alone in this view. I leave it with you to determine that and hope to see you again in the future and be willing on that occasion to be more flattering, as we do generally enjoy Japanese cuisine and would prefer for there to be more...
Read moreReally didn’t want to leave such a bad review but unfortunately no other option! Far too many issues to ignore. Had a table booked for my nephews birthday last week.. the restaurant was freezing - we ate in our coats! The chef who came out to cook was friendly & entertaining! Unfortunately other than that the service was shocking… one of the children would only eat white rice and he had to wait until we all finished our food until he was served his! After finishing our meals we had to ask for the potatoes which was included in our set menu and they brought them out over 20 minutes after we’d finished our mains! We then had to ask where our desserts were another thing which is included in the set menu to be told they didn’t have enough!!! We had to call over the staff for a number of things as nobody was checking on us, it did feel like begging! Then the real problems started diarrhoea and vomiting. I myself spent the rest of the evening and next morning in the bathroom, my sister sent home from work, my mother spent the next day in bed & my nephew throwing up! To add insult, My sister then realised she had been charged £20 more than her bill was!!! Why? My sister has been speaking to the man in charge of the restaurant and he is issuing my sister the money she has been charged (rightly so)! After many phone calls he is happy to refund my sister who made the calls and my sister who was overcharged but nothing for the rest of us, those who had to miss a day in work and spent the evening in the bathroom!!! Shocking! No refund or acknowledgement of the sickness and the fact the family (who live miles from one another and this was the only meal we shared) was dropping like flies!!! Will not be returning or...
