Bavette Steak House - Turkish Restaurant — Restaurant in England

The whole experience was a let down; especially considering it was my dads first time out of the house since his heart operation and it was supposed to have been a special meal.

I bought the family a Groupon for Christmas and we decided to go to the Warrington Bavette for a change, as we usually go to the Woolton one. I called on the Thursday to book a table for 9 people on Sunday 22nd and everything was fine. I even explained I had Groupon vouchers and they were fine with it.

When we arrived on the Sunday, they hadn't booked us in and they had to make space for us. The manager asked' are you sure you called'... around 5 times and this was very unpleasant. They also said that they don't take Groupon vouchers on a Sunday, to which I asked where does it say this on the voucher? They couldn't find and point out where it actually stated this, just that they don't take them on a Sunday. The woman that was serving us had a terrible attitude and just kept putting her hands up saying that she doesn't want to argue and that we should have booked before showing up. I couldn't believe it!

In the end, we decided to stay and essentially pay twice for the meal, as we still had the vouchers. The manager said he would 'look after us', but didn't even ask us for our drinks order; let alone anything else. The food was nice, but we had to keep standing up to order drinks and it took over 15 minutes for them to arrive. The lady who reluctantly served us forgot half of the drinks order, and she had an attitude about her.

This is the first time I have wrote a negative review about a restaurant, as I know how hard it can be to cater for the public. This on the other hand could have been avoided by just accepting they made a cockup by not stating on the vouchers that they are not valid on a Sunday, and it also could have been avoided by actually booking us in when they said they...

First time having dinner here and it did not disappoint. The staff were very friendly and polite. The restaurant was quite empty when we sat down (it was only 5:30pm) but it did get busier. So, the moment we've all been waiting for... The food! It was absolutely fantastic! I had the octopus for starters and the Asado burger for main. The octopus was cooked perfectly and it gave me memories of being back in Portugal, it was that good. The burger was bloody foodgasmic. I mean if food could give you an orgasm, then god damn that burger would achieve it. 10/10 best burger I've ever had. Now for my partners dishes, she had the prawns for starters and the New York steak for mains. So now here's when the top marks start going down just a teeny bit. She did unfortunately say that she's had better prawns, but... She said they were still very tasty. Now the steak, she said was cooked beautifully. Medium rare and it was nice and tender. Although you will have to order some additional sides because the steak is all you get. We also got some extra sides of fries and a cheesy mushroom which were both very nice especially the mushroom. We were a group of five celebrating a birthday, four of us ordered steak and one of us ordered tapas. Three of us ordered Octupus for starters, we eat Octupus frequently and this was not the best! It was very chewy and under cooked! We ordered two fillet steaks, rump & sirloin, we all asked for it to be cooked medium rare. The rump was ok, the sirloin hadnt been rested and was very bloody, both the fillet steaks were over cooked and ruined, they were both very dry due to being over cooked. I left my fillet steak and my husband only ate a few peices of his steak. We complained to the owner and he offered us 2 free drinks! You could see that both steaks were over cooked and ruined. When we asked for the bill the two fillet steaks were still on even though they had been ruined by over cooking them, they refused to take the fillet steaks off our bill, stating they offered us 2 free drinks! We all drank cocktails and vodka, our bill was £380 but they thought charging us for two steaks that were over cooked and ruined was ok! Disgusting! We will not be returning!
