I really enjoyed this Italian based restaurant. It's was fairly priced with good portions of tasty food. Definitely recommend on a quite day. Good location and free parking if you park at Aldi's next door. It's situated on high street which makes it ideal. Very beautiful decor and interior styling, with cream colours and whites which give it a sophisticated look. Food took a little longer then usual but it may be because of the new Coronavirus guidelines. The bill took long to get but the staff were really nice and friendly and so helpful. Had a good laugh with them. I went on Saturday and it was fairly busy as you'd expect which results in alot of crowd noise and loud shouting at my wife whilst conversating. Good tasty food with lovely portions. I recommend the lemon chicken which was cooked perfectly or the pappedelle chicken. The orange tart is too rich for me and was very rich. It was hard to eat without lots of ice cream. Very sticky and cold and very dark. Also I couldn't taste any orange. I would prefer the panettone pudding which was lighter as tasty. I recommend this place as long as you don't mind the high street location and loud crowd noises on Saturdays but other then that good was great, staff were nice, atmosphere was lively, place looked great.

15th October 2025 (see this date review on Tripadvisor as Google will only allow one review!) 29th May 24. ‘Wandering Wednesday’ this week took Hubster Neil and I to Ego’s in Stockton Heath. Starters: we both had calamari, it was lovely and tender, coated with a light tempura batter….. Entrée…… King prawns, red chilli and garlic Al dente linguine in rich, creamy tomato sauce, topped with rocket and plenty of Parmesan and milled black pepper. DEFINITELY not skinny on the King prawns, there was LOADS! Side of Stone baked garlic pizza with half mozzarella and garlic, spicy tomato on the other to mop up!! The base was thin and with a perfect crisp bite! plus a Greek salad to share…. It was all very tasty, piping hot and good portion sizes, our compliments to the chefs…. The restaurant is always pristine and plenty of people in there having lunch too, which speaks for itself! A very popular restaurant indeed, the food and service says it all. Our server today was a lady called ‘Olive’, she was very professional, attentive and her manners were impeccable, a total credit to Ego’s….. thank you Olive. Will we go back? Most definitely!

July 2019 update: clearly a change in the kitchen. I ordered the seabass because i had that last time. Now it's some horrid dry mess with bloody chorizio. Note to self: read menus, don't assume the menu will not have been screwed up since last visit. One rissotto had to go right back to the kitchen. Raw rice. Dish replaced with a different one, 10 mins after everyone had finished. Complimentary round of drinks (a cheap one, as two non-drinkers) and that's it. Bleak. Get your act sorted out. 2018 review: Ego. Some people call it Ego's, the idiots. Lovely service, no one ever seems to be giving the impression they don't like working here. Also in its favour is that it is not Tom at 101's, which was the single worst place I have ever eaten. It's now thankfully closed. All hail Ego.

I was so disappointed with the service I received during my recent visit to this restaurant on 29.03.2025 I had high expectations for the experience, as we were celebrating both Mother’s Day (It was my first Mother’s Day) and a friend’s birthday. Unfortunately, the service we received was far from the standard one might expect from a restaurant of this calibre and it significantly impacted what was supposed to be a joyous occasion.

We were aware that we were late for our reservation, but we had been given the table until 16:00. However, after we ordered and were served our starters, we encountered several issues. All members of our table had finished their starters, yet the plates were left on the table without any attempt to clear them. To my surprise, the main courses were then brought out while the dirty plates from the starters were still on the table, leaving no space to place the new plates.

I politely pointed out to the server that the dirty plates should have been cleared before bringing out the main course. His response was that his hands were full and he could not clear them. I explained that the plates should have been cleared to make space for the main courses, to which he replied that it was not his responsibility to clear the plates, as he was just delivering the food. Eventually, the plates were cleared after the main courses had been placed around them, which was not only inefficient but made the dining experience uncomfortable.

Following this, I was approached by another staff member who identified himself as the manager. I shared my concerns with him, and while he did apologize, he also mentioned that our late arrival and the limited time we had for the table were factors in their rush to serve the food quickly. While I understand the logistical pressures, this explanation felt dismissive of my concerns. My attempt to explain that the occasion was meant to be a celebration for Mother’s Day and a birthday fell on deaf ears, as there was still no real acknowledgment or genuine apology for the discomfort caused.

The entire experience was deeply upsetting. What was meant to be a special and memorable occasion turned into an unpleasant one due to poor customer service and a lack of professionalism. I left the restaurant feeling disrespected, and despite the food itself being lovely, the lack of courtesy and disregard for our concerns overshadowed the meal. the food was excellent, beautifully flavoured and a delight to eat and it is a shame that the service lets down the culinary experience.

I am disappointed that my concerns were met with such a dismissive attitude, and I feel that the service we received did not reflect the standards I expected. I hope this feedback is taken seriously to ensure future guests have a more...

We ate at Ego Stockton heath last night and it was a very mixed evening.

Firstly I just want to say the food was absolutely amazing, couldn’t fault anything it was amazing.

However, the service we experienced was not so good. Walked in to the restaurant and just got pointed in the direction of where our table was, I had to ask which table it was and then just got pointed to again which I’ve never experienced before.

Secondly it took 20 mins to just get a drink order when other tables who came in after us had drinks on their table before we even had our order taken.

When asking for new drinks half way through the meal I got greeted with a huff and “what do you want” and then she typed the drinks in and walked off, when she came back with the drinks they just got put on the table and walked off again.

I asked where the toilets was and again got greeted with a point in a direction and “they’re over there”

The only part of the service which was good was the younger girl taking our payment at the end, she was the only one who cracked a smile all night even though the restaurant was half dead, all outside was empty and half the tables was free inside so I’m not sure what the reasoning behind the other staffs moods was.

Shame because the food was exceptional but the staff made the evening very...
