Tesco Cafe — Restaurant in England

Me and my family had a very unfortunate experience here a few weeks ago.

We normally go to a very high end supermarket next door for their cafe as it's excellent. We thought for a change we would try Tesco as it would be a pleasant change.

Unfortunately, I should have known that when you have around 8 electronic tills with payment screens and only 3 are working, this is a sign of things to come. We waited in a queue for around 25mins. Some of the items which were out of stock, weren't put onto the system so other shoppers were disappointed.

After ordering our food and drink ,we sat down. We ordered a coffee, cake and a small meal (sandwich/wrap type thing). It took around 10 mins to receive the coffee and cake which wasn't ideal but we knew they were busy.

It took 39 mins to get our meal which is unacceptable, when you have a baby its hard enough keeping them entertained for a meal nevermind waiting over an hour from start to finish to get our meal. There were some elderly people behind us who only ordered a pot of tea and some chips. They got their tea without milk, they weren't happy either.

It was clear that they weren't very efficient either, staff members would pick up one plate and serve, rather than several and they were clearly understaffed they had 3 servers only which compared to competition is more like 15 servers.

It wasn't an ideal experience, we aren't intending to go back. I would think twice before going to this cafe - very...

Have eaten here before and generally the food is okay but service has always been hit and miss. Today forced me to write a review. We turned up at 2.55pm on Sunday to be informed hot food is closed and the coffee machine is off. Now that would be fine but the signs and the site state 4pm. I then said can we get a sandwich for my son from downstairs and simply sit up here in the cafe at which point the gentlemen working there got funny and rude with me and said no. This then caused 2 other customers behind us to also express their frustration with Tescos. Everyone would have been more understanding but the staff working there clearly don't like working there and could not care less about the customers. We shop there because I get to take the boy to the cafe while the wife does shopping. Going forward we will shop elsewhere out...

I’ve eaten breakfast here twice. The first time I ordered and waited 20 minutes for my food to arrive but nothing did. I then asked one of the table staff if she knew where my food was. She seemed puzzled and unsure of what I had asked. Ten minutes later my food arrived. The second time I didn’t bother chasing up the order but just waited. It took 25 minutes. On both occasions the cafe was not busy with most tables empty. I do wonder what takes so long. I can’t believe every item is cooked to order and even if it was it should still arrive quicker than I experienced. Experiment over. I’ll go back...
