The Bay Horse Inn — Restaurant in England

Will not attempt to eat here again. Waited 40 minutes for our food when the place was nearly empty and people that had ordered after us had already been served, requested on plates and came out on skillets (no big deal) paid for an upgraded option on a meal which hadnt been done, no sauce came with the order - when complained was told that it was not the managers fault and that food takes time! Not the response you want when your starving! The other half of our table ordered steaks aswell - 2 gammon steaks came out 10 minutes later which was wrong at which there was still no sincere apology and the answer was well I'll get 2 steaks on the go but you'll have to wait. At this point we had decided to ask for a refund as there was no complimentary extra or money off the bill offered and with the blatant lack of concern and couldn't care less attitude from management we were highly disatisfied. Within minutes of leaving we got a phonecall from the other party to say that their order had been rejected because of our attitude towards management! Absolutely pathetic! Under new management - will be needing new management if this is the way they want to...

We were looking forward to lunch as we had heard good things, the pub wasn't very full but lunch still look around 30 mins to be brought out, then two things were forgotten off a kids meal, we then finished and were waiting for dessert. 30 mins had passed and no sign of desserts despite there being only two other families in the pub, the staff were chatting and laughing to each other, we could see a waitress and possibly cook, flirting and hugging through the kitchen doors. After 45 minutes I went to the bar and asked how long the desserts would be, to be told they didn't realise we had ordered and they had thrown out all the checks so I had to tell them what I ordered again, the possible cook that we saw earlier came out and said it was his fault he had chucked them out, he laughed it off then went for a cigarette. Desserts came out another 15 minutes after that, the kids got brought out first then ours after so the kids had to sit and wait even longer for us to finish ours and were obviously bored and restless. Hi it was our first time at the Bay Horse and I can honestly say it was fab - we had been to pictures at manor walk and wanted some where diffrent to eat after and I came across the pub on google and I have to say they have a good website - a huge range of choice on the menu to suit any pocket or appetite and easy to book a table online, and the young waiter I think was called Cal was excellent from the moment we walked in the door. Now to the food, my hubby had the hunters chicken sizzler and I had a sirlon steak served as a sizzler with onions sizzling underneath, it was delicious and the smell was very appetising. It was well cooked and nicely served that is why I gave it 5 stars which you dont get very often from me ,so well done and we will defo be back thankyou, also I have a wheat allergy and the waiter went through the menu on his I pad and told me everything I could eat where the gluten could be taken out which i thought was above and beyond helpful.
