Not the greatest dining experience we've ever had, stopped off on the way to the lakes and wished we hadn't. Tables were dirty and the whole place felt a bit sad - we'd intended to have lunch but it rather killed our appetites so settled for coffee and a piece of cake as a quick and safe option. This was the second place we'd looked at in Hawes and despite my comments was actually the better of the two. They seemed to be doing good trade anyway and obviously had support of some regular locals so hopefully we were just unlucky but we won't be going back...

Food... well the sausage in my meal wasn't undercooked by no means , it had been reheated in microwave for miles too long that it would have been used a tent peg. The coleslaw was runny and appeared to be as if it was thrown on the plate and over the baguette.. needless to say I didn't eat it but paid when the waitress asked as I was paying "was everything ok (she could see the uneaten food) I just looked at her...

A couple then came in & were seated, along with being handed menus, only to be told 15 minutes later when they tried to order, that they were no longer serving food. The family on the table across from us waited so long for one meal they told the staff to leave it. Finally, a couple sat behind us when asked if they could pay were told they weren't taking...
