The Beach Hut Cafe — Restaurant in England

Sunday 30th April approx 3pm

Went out for a lovely walk along Avon Beach (Christchurch), walking towards High Cliffe.

Stopped at The Beach Hut Cafe...it was busy outside with a queue for Ice Cream. Stepped inside where there are tables for hot food etc. My wife sat down and I stood at the till behind a customer complaining.

As she left I continued to wait at the till but no welcome from any member of the young team. Noticed a sign stating "Please take a seat, table service" on the counter. I sat down and waited, explaining to my wife that the lady before me was complaining that her food didn't arrive !

Noticed two ladies from the The Beach Hut Team (probably managers) who were having their lunch (all entitled to a break).

So we waited sat at the table watching the staff pass us numerous times with drinks. We were sat close to the till and serving window so couldn't be missed, but sadly nothing. We waited and waited, not a single attempt to serve us despite my looks at the staff behind the till, and the staff passing ....they just looked at us and carried on regardless. We waited in total approx 15mins. I got bored and walked out and went to the Noisy Lobster who are very interested in serving customers.

I'm really not sure what's happened to general good customer service, I'd have been happy waiting if a team member had just had the courtesy to say hello, and told us we won't be long, sorry for the delay in getting to you.

As a local to the area we wont be calling on The Beach Hut Cafe again, certainly won't be recommending it.

The Noisy Lobster is far better !!

Read good reviews on this cafe so encouraged my elderly parents to walk an extra mile past the the cafe we always use. On walking in a very rude women snapped eating in or out and order at the takeaway window if you sitting outside ,you can see the cake available through the window as I was reading the menu to my parents. Felt like we where pushed out of the door before we could decide what we wanted. I would suggest she treats all customers with better manners and especially the elderly who need time to make a decision and have trouble seeing well. She should know better as must be a pensioner herself soon so would expect much better manners towards the elderly. The young guy serving inside was much more pleasant and helpful. Cake and coffee was great and a good price for the area just a shame my parents where made to...

I purchased a chocolate shake and a crab sandwich. Both went immediately into the bin. The chocolate "shake" was poorly mixed chocolate milk with canned spray cream on top. It was terrible, nothing close to a milkshake. The crab sandwich was inedible, I'm sure it had sand or bits of shell in the mix. My best guess is that it was canned crab, but it was hideous and revolting even for that. Definitely not fresh and the worst example of crab I've ever had. The other sandwich ordered was sausage on ciabatta with onions which wasn't terrible but the rating is for the money wasted on the shake and crab sandwich. Recommend eating before you arrive or sticking with the ice cream if you visit this...
