So to be clear I have never had lobster, but love trying new food. So I had procrastinated for sometime, but here goes… the noisy lobster restaurant. Welcome flawless, great beaming smile from the maitre d’ shown to our table, now note here I think is important. So many places i go to only sterilise the table but that is it, you lean on it and almost sick to it! None of that here what so ever. Cleanliness of the place was great. Our waitress, very friendly polite and helpful. Attentiveness thought out well timed and not intrusive. On to the meal… Starters I had scollops, cooked to perfection. The whole dish, with sauces was amazingly well balanced. Every flavour brought out by each other, the chorizo not big lumps like you would expect elsewhere, instead a very delicate flavour. The crab millefeuille a very delicate balance of flavours. Main We both had lobster. As mentioned I have never had. So my partner enjoyed it, they said it was every bit as good if not better than they had ever had. For myself, I did not like the texture one bit, however the subtle garlic and butter made it really well balanced. On to dessert, dessert I have no other words than truly amazing, the whole dishes balanced beautifully with something that could be really rich, with others that grounded it. It has been a long time since I have given a place so much praise, but I could not fault it in anyway. Longing to...
Read moreI ate here quite a while ago and it was a relaxed venue for a delicious and quite luxurious brunch. Visiting again it has been revamped and the service was hugely improved. However the menu is much more restaurant style which I’m not sure fits the venue. Beautiful though the location is, the building is just a seaside cafe in style. It felt a bit stilted and I wonder whether other people think like this as it was very quiet in there. We had to preorder our meal which I always find annoying as who knows what you will feel like on the day. I had the buttermilk chicken as a starter. The whole point of buttermilk chicken is the crisp tasty delicious batter unfortunately it was covered on top with a very tasteless sour cream ranch and guacamole and the underside was soggy because it was sat on a salsa. It tasted nice but I would rather have been able to add my own toppings as I ate it. The main course was sea bass with a lobster and lime bearnaise. The bass was nice but the sauce kept us guessing as we had forgotten what it was. You really didn’t taste either lobster or lime, the texture was more like a peanut sauce. Pudding was a sticky toffee Christmas pudding. This was not great. It was really heavy, not sure what the gritty stuff under the ice cream was but it didn’t complement it. So all in all a little bit disappointing. I will give it another chance. It may have just...
Read moreWow, what a great find, we were staying locally for our wedding anniversary discovered this restaurant was looking on Google Maps. Firstly, the venue is situated in an amazing spot with wonderful views across the solent to the Isle of Wight. We were blessed with wonderful weather which probably made things even better. When we booked, we advised it was our wedding anniversary and asked for a good table and the team did not disappoint, sitting us in the centre of the outside seating with the most fantastic views. The team were very attentive a knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks they had on offer. Our server was very helpful and gave us space when needed to choose our food and drink. We started with some oysters., my wife had the scallop starter and I had the most wonderfully fresh crab gazpacho. We both went for the lobster mains, although I went for the full house seafood experience with added scall and prawns, everything was cooked perfection and we definitely look at returning when we are back in the area to try some of the other offerings...
