absolutely awful i never normally leave reviews but i definitely have to write about our terrible experience in this pub. rang up asking for a table for the football, the person i spoke to on the phone was very unfriendly. arrived to the pub and after 20 minutes of someone trying to find us a table DESPITE us booking, we got sat down to a TV with no volume for the football.
ordered food on the app, 2 different people came to tell us that there was no mayo, no halloumi, no sweet chilli sauce, and no tuna - understandable but a bit of a joke.
food arrives - the chicken on my husbands roast dinner was FREEZING cold....no fried eggs on the mixed grill which were requested when ordering, and EVEN WORSE, they arrived 5 minutes after asking where they were on a separate plate with THREE pieces of egg shell in!!!!
No cheese in the chicken and cheese sandwich...
Brought the wrong chicken for the kebab, every person we spoke to was willing to help but it began to feel embarrassing constantly asking where things were / why there was so much wrong with the food.
The food was quite frankly pathetic, along with the service we received at the beginning of our trip, very disappointed and most certainly won’t be returning again. ruined the last night of our holiday which we had been really...
Read moreWell what a place, no aircon on a 28c day, weather is not their fault, the no aircon is. So much to list that was wrong with our meals, most of it was inedible. I had the smothered 8oz rump steak (medium) The steak was served, I would like rare but is was more on the blue side, I like pink steak, but squeeze it and the bloody just dripped out, It came with freezer burned sweet corn, over cooked onion rings which just taste of grease, very dry fries, surprisingly the mac’n’cheese was edible. And the couple of chicken wings were ok. Another member of my party order chips and they were covered in old burnt parts from a deep fryer that is obviously never cleaned. I would like to say that my meal was the only bad one, but out of five people none of us enjoyed any of it, from the non-melted cheese on nachos, to the chicken strips that were too dry to be eaten without loads of sauce, which wasn’t an option (see below) there is too many other things wrong with this food to delineate.
I should of realised, by the dead ant in the salt, flat cola (that the barmaid didn’t want to replace) and the condiments left out in the sultry conditions None of us wanted to risk dessert, which I was offered free due to the bad food, but being offered more food at a place that clearly can’t cook was little...
Read moreFood was FAR better than expected and we were very pleasantly surprised. We stumbled upon the Sandpiper after originally hoping to eat at the Ship in Distress, who unfortunately upon arrival told us no food served until 5pm...!!
Found the Sandpiper a few minutes later and original thoughts were 'This will do' as we were all getting quite hungry. Upon entering this large open spaced and very clean, tidy pub we were greeted by a smiling young lady who let us know to take a seat anywhere and to order our food at the bar once we had made a decision with our order.
This is not our usual type of pub as we generally look for smaller, quiet, tucked out of the way places with a cosy atmosphere. However, we were genuinely surprised by the very friendly staff, we liaised with 3 during our visit (2 young ladies and 1 tall young man) who were all approachable, smiling and as I said previously friendly..
Food arrived (3 separate meals) after a very short wait, it was hot, well presented and very enjoyable. I can highly recommend the mixed grill and it's good to find a place that serves a medium-rare stake when that is what you request...!!
All in All a very enjoyable experience and we will certainly be returning in the very near future!
