The room was comfortable, clean and tidy but the window catches were too high for me to close, there was something going on in the square that kept me awake until 3am. My hubby is deaf so it didn't bother him, but the noise was horrendous. I then got news of a serious illness at home and had to cut our visit short. The duty manager offered to refund for the night we couldn't stay but as yet not received a penny. We booked for 2 nights with a possibility of a 3rd. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary with a trip to Lake windermere and further sightseeing. We had to cut everything short. It is now over 3 weeks since our trip. It seems the delightful duty manager has no power whatsoever. I was looking forward to the evening meal which had been well recommended. Dropped stars for service as still not received the refund £65 is a lot for a pensioner to lose. They haven't even responded to an email I sent. They have my address, phone number and email address but can't be bothered to reply. The serious illness resulted in a death so I haven't had the heart or inclination to pursue this matter. If their business is so bad they can keep my money as a donation to an aftersales customer service course.

From initial appearance the accomodation looked promising, but when in the room the windows had no handles and 1 was closed the other could not be closed which made the room noisy from the rain guttering outside. Plastic bag had been secured over the smoke alarm by someone. 1 bed had a leg missing. Shower was particularly uninviting with a large amount of black mould everywhere. Alas this is definitely a place to avoid until it comes up in cleanliness and basic maintenance standards.

Called in for lunch as was dog friendly while we were out walking from Haverigg. Had chef special sausage curry and carbonara, followed by sticky toffee pudding and a latte. Fodd was fantastic value for money and a great choice. Staff really friendly and welcoming. We will be back next time we return to the area

I didn’t want to even award 1 star.

Dreadful food and dreadful staff. The restaurant should be closed down. Black battered cod. I would not even feed a stray dog with this rubbish these people call food! Here, the fish and chips are fried in dirty oil that has been used again and again, probably for months before it is changed. Full of disgusting flavours!! Also our order took over 30 mins to arrive and we were famished! I asked the waitress about the black batter and she admitted that the oil was black and dirty!! I asked to speak to the chef who refused to talk to me, but instead he told the waitress that I didn’t know what I was talking about. I could hear him from the kitchen. My friend and I witnessed him using his hands to put food on the plate! Good people, If you care for your health DO NOT EAT THIS DESPICABLE FOOD AND WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. These people are ignorant and totally incompetent. They have no idea! Very rude! I asked the manager to refund our meals which we had tasted. He only refunded us with £3 for a £30 order of food! I told him that I would be contacting the Retail Ombudsman to which he shrugged his shoulders and left the table. Afterwards we read other reviews. In hindsight we should have read them beforehand. Many bad reviews. So why has the management not addressed these problems?

Close this restaurant and get rid of the staff- especially the incompetent ignorant chef and dreadful manager who had no idea what the retail...

Well, on arrival a man was smoking inside the entrance to the establishment ( it stank) I had made a reservation the evening before for two nights but on arrival decided to apologise and change it to just one night as I was a bit unsure, anyway I asked to see the room and it seemed almost directly above the entrance where the smoking was going on, so went back to the car and spoke to my wife who didn’t want the possibility of smelling smoke, so I went back inside to apologise again and cancel the reservation as it says on trip advisor FREE CANCELLATION, the gentleman who then came up to me and refused to give my £50 deposit back , this person again stank of drink, so I just left, never...
