I canāt really rate the Bridge Inn but must tell you my disappointing experience today. Today is my sonās birthday and wanting my grandchildren to join us for a meal after school (a 1 year old and 6 year old who live in Gnosall and had to get the bus with their Mummy) decided to visit the Bridge Inn, meeting at 4pm. This was as a result of visiting their website in the morning which stated they were open from 12 to 11pm today, Friday. On our arrival we think it stated on the door that they opened at 4.30pm today but it was smudged and unclear. We were a group of 5 hoping to have a meal to celebrate my sonās birthday and were being joined by 2 other relatives. We waited somewhere in the region of 15 minutes but as my one year old granddaughter was hungry and upset we decided to leave it. Sadly I have been waiting to visit this establishment for a long time, after reading the amazing reviews and sadly had to put it on hold due to health issues but today was supposed to be the day! It should have been sufficient to visit their website for an accurate opening...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDifficult to judge after a first visit on Saturday 30 December 2017 to try and sample the real ale. The Bridge appears to be a bright , clean , modern interior public house inside an olden exterior style pub with the emphasis on food. There were plenty of customers who were enjoying the pub and the food whilst we were there.
The real ale selection was four ales on offer , two Hobsons bitters , Ruddles Bitter and Greene King Abbot Reserve. Sadly no dark real Mild , Porter or Stout on offer.
Did feel that we were not welcomed by the host behind the bar who seemed somewhat distant, 'matter of fact' and indifferent to us.
Car parking is evidently through the archway to the right of building but I did not feel comfortable attempting to take my MPV through the narrow gap - there appeared to be no sign indicating that the car...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA return to the town I grew up in and realised despite visiting most of Newport's hostelries at one time or another, The Bridge Inn wasn't one of them. Parking available at the back though a tight squeeze to get there! A warm welcome awaited along with a pleasant aroma of something fishy cooking. Liked the way the draught beers set out in order, brown to left, blonde to right. Can particularly recommend the Three Tuns. Dining area informal and comfortable (though with good acoustics too!). Varied menu at very reasonable prices and with a considerable variety of fish dishes. Service excellent and attentive without being overbearing, a real can-do attitude amongst its staff. Will look forward to coming here again...
