If you are looking for a warm welcome especially as an holiday maker ....Go somewhere else ! The landlord was extremely unwelcoming ... miserable and rude...it was our 2nd visit ...the 1st visit the day before we were lucky enough NOT to meet him...still here for another week n will NOT be returning ...unfortunately we never got to try the food so cannot comment on that... we wanted to sit inside as we took friends who we had not seen for years due to covid and they had brought their parents who were all holidaying in Newquay...as you can image lots to catch up on...so we couldn't sit inside (all reserved.).so outside we could, I asked for some menu's they really wanted to eat...got refused a menu and told very bluntly you'll have to come back thursday if you want food ...he let us order drinks before saying a word although he did snap at the person who was ordering drinks ...saying you sure you want another shandy thats the 3rd one ??? they were 6 people ....after ordering, paid for drinks his manner on how he delivered what .. he had to say was upsetting and embrassing to our guests...his answer was if you don't want to sit outside you can have your money back... Manners do not COST anything...but truly make a difference....!!! for the Landlord you get 5* for making us feel absolutely unwelcome.........YOU MiSS READ it......And MISSING THE POINT....I wrote nothing to do with Our health .. its about meeting up with friends n happy occasions...OUR EXPERIENCE was NOT what it should of been DUE TO THE FACT OF YOUR MANNER ...and You're reply is a PRIME EXAMPLE of RUDE...as for the drinks of our choice .some people were drinking n it was about the company and atmosphere and DUE TO YOU....it fell...

Well where do I start, A fabulous old pub great parking and a very warm friendly welcome welcome which started in the car park from a fun relaxed young couple who we got to know and swapped numbers !

Fabulous choice of draught and bottled beers, wines and spirits offered to you by staff who you feel you have known for ever!!

Pete the landlord and all the staff have done and are doing an absolutely amazing job with this hidden Jem of an establishment,

Head chef is a friendly fun professional focused master at his art And our meals very different from each other’s chose from an amazing menu with great choice to suit all tastes were perfectly cooked exquisitely presented and an absolute joy to eat !! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Deserts were amazingly scrumptious a delight to look at savour and enjoy 😊

Although we are 20 miles from the bucket of blood I do believe we will be making it one of our go to places for drinks lunch dinner entertaining friends and making new acquaintances !

See you all...

This pub is a must when visiting Hayle. You need to book so you are not dissapointed in not getting a table if you would like to eat. This is a small pub with a bustling personality and full of life. All staff members were so polite. A dog friendly pub. Meals were more than worth the money and reasonably priced for the surrounding area. A quaint little pub full of history. We were made to feel very welcomed. I will be booking this again next year when we visit again. There were different group sizes in when we were there. The menu uploaded is a recent one as from the 15/08/25. There are no desserts served here, but the main food portion sizes made up for this. Outside seating is available on two tiers. Great views. We had a game of uno as some table games were available. This was great as we all weren't on our phones!!!! Family time which can not be taken for granted....

Well worth leaving the car at Towans and walking down to. My favourite place of an evening. Wonderful local ales. The place is always packed. Dog-friendly traditional pub with a low-beamed bar and garden. The meals are beautiful (wise to book) serving unfussy food and local ales. The service is brilliant and the staff are so helpful and welcoming. Love the history of this alehouse and the village it sits in. According to local legend, centuries ago the landlord pulled up a bucket, but it didn't contain water – the body of a murdered smuggler had been dumped into the well, giving the pub its name.
