I don't want this to sound negative because I love to see smaller local businesses doing well, especially when the only other place I could see open in Launceston on a Saturday was Costa! If they want to survive then they need to up their game a little. With only 5-6 tables in the café and being very quiet, you'd think it would be easy enough to keep the place clean. My partner and I sat at a table which needed a wipe as 2 were occupied and 2 still had used plates on them. We asked for our table to be cleaned as there was food on it. The young lady in there simply sprayed and then wiped the food onto the floor and walked off. She then cleared away the plates from the other tables but left the spilled food on the tables (it was still there when we left some 40 minutes later). There was also what appeared to be a yoghurt/sauce spillage on the floor by one of the chairs that was left there for the duration of our visit.
We were pleasantly surprised by the prices on the menu and thought it was very good value. £5 for Savoury waffles which consists of 2 waffles, 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon and "maple" syrup was very good! £2-ish for a nice sized coffee, you can't complain. The waffles were obviously bought in toaster style waffles and the syrup was maple flavour rather than maple syrup but if you want freshly cooked waffles with real maple syrup then you're looking at more that £5. A lot more!
Don't go here expecting super high quality food. Go here to support a local business and to get a cheap lunch. 4.4 stars across the reviews speak for themselves!
Well done for still competing with the bigger corporate places but please try and dial up the service a little. You're judged on that initial appearance and our first impressions weren't great. There have been too many failed businesses in Launceston especially with 2 cafes very close to you closing down in the past few weeks of me writing this.
Good luck...
Read moreOK, so the food is cheap, this is reflected in the quality though. Vegan breakfast... Lukewarm beans, one hash brown... Really not much to write home about. My partners order was wrong. Broken glass on the fake plant pot on the table. Clearly very busy on a Sunday morning with deliveries, although the foh staff seemed to stand around a fair bit. Our food took about 30 mins to arrive. However the family at the table next to us, asked after waiting at least half an hour, were incredibly rudely told that the kitchen was very busy with delivery orders, no apologies, no gratis drink, I am surprised they didn't get up and find somewhere else, I would have! Wobbly table, cups that didn't fit in the saucers, really run down toilet, no hand towels.. .. Essentially this place has the scope to be a good little cafe, but really needs to up its game with staff politeness, and a blooming...
Read moreafter placing an order via just eat and waiting over an hour to then check on the app to see it delayed and estimated delivery now another hour away, a two hour wait for for is just not great service unfortunately this is now the second time this has happened of which the first time I went with but this time cancelled the order. since moving to Launceston this has been our main place togo for food and I think now with the expansion they are now pushed and if it continues I'm sure they will see a decrease in customers. maybe a staffing issue but I know for a fact many teenagers looking for work have approached you with the promise of a call or message and they are still waiting...
