The Cross Keys — Restaurant in England

Booked a table for me and my baby. Upon arrival I asked for a high chair for my 1 year old baby (there were 2 at the table opposite which weren't being used yet). I was told they'd been pre-booked so I couldn't use them. I asked whether they could borrow one from the restaurant opposite us and was told the manager said they were too busy. Absolutely disgusting. He had to eat lunch in his pram and choked. I had to hold him in emergency position and hit his back to get the food out that had choked him as he wasn't able to sit fully upright in his pram. Poor baby. I wasn't asked whether I'd like a drink nor whether I'd enjoyed my meal at any point during my visit nor thanked for my custom. The waitress who served us was lovely and tried her best but the rest of the staff were terrible. When we left, the table opposite still hasn't received their food yet and they'd refused to give me a high chair even though they'd only been using one. Horrible place. Been many times but really don't think they deserve my money again. Disgusting customer service. Perhaps they'll run out of chairs and ask an adult to eat...

Terrible customer service, we were told to finish our drinks an hour before closing as they were tired and we were the last customers (this was 10pm on a Saturday evening) when asked if we could have five minutes to finish our drinks we were told “no now” and when I asked for a refund on our unfinished drinks we were told “no” I could understand if we were being loud or inconsiderate but this wasn’t the case the staff were unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming, it is such a shame as it’s actually a very pleasant looking establishment and very close to our home. Myself , my husband and our neighbours thought it would be a nice way to finish the evening but unfortunately we were made to feel very unwelcome

I was first introduced to this pub by a friend in September this year. It’s a lovely place with a beautiful garden, so I decided to return and bring another friend along. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed by the landlord’s behaviour. He was extremely rude to us.

We politely asked if our table could be wiped as it felt sticky. Instead of simply cleaning it, he ran his palms over the entire surface and said he didn’t think it needed wiping, but would do it anyway. We were shocked by both his unfriendly and unhygienic behaviour, which made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. It was clear he didn’t believe us, and the way he handled the situation was completely unnecessary.
