Kept waiting for over 40 mins for kids meals. Pub was empty, only 2 other tables for food. Toasted sandwiches were on stale bread and not even toasted. Burger was a dire patty between 2 stale buns. Corn on the cob looked like it has already been nibbled with the number of kernals that had fallen out. Only 2 young members of staff were seen working during the 90 mins we were there, the manager/owner clearly does not care any more about their employees than their customers. If you're going to do something, do it well. If you cannot provide decent food then don't, I would have preferred a drink with chips or crisps than the disappointment of what was served. Worst pub meal ever!

Went to The Crown due to the recent excellent recent reviews and we agree the place is fabulous under its new management. Si is terrific and his staff follow his professional and friendly hospitality ethos, the food was excellent too, Myla our dog was welcome too, we will 100% be back, Steve Julie & Myla, photo is my empty plate after a great Sunday roast, thanks.

Great pub for a family get together or a meal out with someone! Excellent range of beers and wines for all budgets and attentive staff. Now doing a take away service for food - I love the chicken wings!!! New menu has some great dishes to choose from. Duo of seafood is a particular favourite.

Had a fairly bad time regarding the pub itself recently; firstly I ordered fajitas and it came out as 1 fajita cut in 2 halves, especially after seeing someone else get 2 full ones. (£9.99)

The last time I was there I had a cheese bacon burger, the cheese wasn't even slightly melted just a flat plastic type cheese, the bun was burnt a bit at the top, the bacon was extra extra crispy and the meat patty itself was decent. (£9.85)

I also received what is probably the flattest beer I've ever had which I drunk too much of to the point of where I couldn't be bothered to return it. And to make it worse they close at 10pm most weekdays now.

The beer is a good price but the food is too pricey for what you get and what was described as better.

Nearly forgot to mention most tables are reserved recently as people book to eat there but most of the time the tables are empty, more of a failing restaurant at the moment instead of a good pub.

Overall it's normally good place to go for a drink with friends, the staff are friendly (ish), I suggest elsewhere for food and the staff are very friendly/well mannered but hope...

Unlike previous visits, my last visit to the Crown was disappointing. I was unlucky enough to get a nasty bout of food poisoning from a chicken and pulled ham pie. That was the only thing that I'd eaten that was different to what my other half had over that day and earlier. The pie tasted a bit stodgy, and usually is much better on previous visits. Possibly it had been left out too long, or inadequately cooked. Rather than write a review at the time, I let the staff at the Crown know after I'd recovered, so that they'd be aware of the problem. The staff were sympathetic and took my email and phone number, as the manager was not there. I heard nothing. A few weeks later, I dropped by the Crown again. The staff remembered the matter and confirmed they had my details, but the manager was on holiday. Again, I never heard back. When I checked, I can see the Crown has an excellent (the highest) hygiene rating of five. I think the manager needs to do a bit more about after sales service. That's the reason for marking service as 2 out of 5, even though the service on the...

Our First visit here since lockdown a pub we had always enjoyed going to for food and drinks unfortunately they have a new manager and things have changed for the worse. We ordered our food and drinks and after waiting for half an hour the waitress came over and said she had lost our order. When our food did arrive we had no cutlery so we asked for some which came all wet as they had just came out of the dishwasher. The food wasn't great either especially the beef which was really stringy. One of our group had a mixed grill and asked for his steak to be rare, but came medium. The waitress was very apologetic and asked for our telephone number saying the Manager would call us tomorrow unfortunately we have had no call so I guess he doesn't care. We also noted that other customers were complaining about there food and service. Also no masks were being worn by customers as they move around the pub which we pointed out but nothing was said. I think it will be a while before we go back.
