The Crown At Theale — Restaurant in England

Went into this pub before Christmas, bought a sandwich for my friend, it tasted a bit odd to her. I ate it and felt the same.

The chef from this pub, it transpired later, had sprayed multi surface cleaner into the sandwich when he made it.

The response of the management initially showed promise, but I have never really received any satisfactory response to my issues.

I now have the chef sending me abusive messages. Time to notify the Police about the attempt to poison me, and Environmental Health about the lack of safety in the food preparation areas.

Clive at The Crown stepped in and organised our wedding reception, a week before the wedding( when our previous venue let us down). He and the team were amazing, they couldn’t do enough for us and we are so grateful. The venue has a lovely outside area with a tipi and festoon lighting. The band they recommended were wonderful, food was great, plentiful and catered extremely well to veggies, gluten-free and even an onion free. Great place to go now the new staff and landlord are there. Thank God for a NO drama atmosphere once again.

Update. August 2019. Returning to the Crown for a nice quiet drink only to find yet another landlord has taken over obviously from Newcastle as there is a large in your face Newcastle United plate behind the bar! Cigarette ends in the gutter at front of pub ? Please tell me this is a one off? Not sure I'll return. ...
