The service was pretty poor really and when we arrived the server said she couldn't seat us altogether as 8 even though we had booked it? She didn't ask us to check in or take any details which we would have gladly done. The food was expensive for what it was and the choice of vegetarian meals was almost non existent unless you fancied curry for lunch on a hot day at a cost of £15. The server did say that a new menu was coming out on the 19th and that they could make me whatever but to be honest judging on the prices I told her I would just have cheesy chips .When they came im pretty sure they were cooked in beef dripping so didn't eat them. As I had said I was vegetarian I would have expected her to have said if they weren't a suitable option. I would have asked but it had taken so long and the kids were hungry so I just left them. The food took ages and it wasn't busy, we were mostly having sandwiches so there was no need tor the length of time. For one of the meals she brought a burnt bacon and chicken sandwich with mayo. The menu hadnt mentioned mayo, but she argued that it did and then asked "well what do you want to do?" She did reluctantly replace it with some attitude. We had asked in a polite way and it was for a child so I don't think she should have made a fuss as it was their mistake. She asked if we wanted sauces but then didn't bring ketchup and we had to go and find her.

She also handed a child a red hot plate without mentioning it was hot and he burnt his hand. The coke was basically soda water but this was swapped with no issue. The kids macaroni cheese looked really nice and the taste of everyone's food was alright but...

Would not recommend for a number of reasons. Rang ahead a week early, booked a table indoors and mentioned we had a dog, and they said they would reserve a table indoors in the dog friendly area. Of course, when we arrived, our table was in the no dogs allowed area... fair enough, mistakes can be made on the phone, so we sat outside in the courtyard area near all the bins, not exactly the nicest of areas. Anyway, my girlfriend and I ordered the steak and ale pie and fish and chips - 2 classics you'd assume would be good. The fish and chips was completely dripping in oil and not good at all. The steak and ale pie was poor, no flavour at all. The worst part was the customer service, all staff seemed very rude, the landlady (we assumed) when collecting our plates didn't say a word to us. Just all a very disappointing experience, and it's such a shock for lovely village like Pateley Bridge to not have somewhere that can serve good pub grub. If unsure about customer service comments, check recent reviews on Tripadvisor and Google Reviews...a lot of other reviews saying the same thing. Clearly some attitude issues of the landlady and chef. Don't go, try the takeaway pizza across the...

Before booking accommodation we checked dining availability at the Crown and booked a table for 4 and a high chair at 5pm.|They accepted the booking and we duly confirmed our overnight stay.|We arrived at 4.15 for pre dinner drinks.|Not sure this is legal…… locals vaping in the bar which was a little off putting.|We went to the dining room to be seated and they had no record of our booking ( unlikely I would book accommodation and travel 90 miles without doing this ) however they could fit us in , menu was ltd with roast lamb, steak pie or fish and chips , hey Ho not ideal but ok.|Then I presume the unpleasant person who arrived was the landlady , who did a full reversal and said they didn’t have enough food and implied we hadn’t booked and that was it , no apology no thought for our situation especially with a 1 year old in tow and every other restaurant and pub fully booked in the area. |I did say she could have been more sympathetic , retorted with she had been working 16 hour days and really she couldn’t care about the situation we were in, tough luck.|Been using this place for a number of years and always found them very pleasant , doubt I’ll be back under the...

Was at Pateley Bridge for the weekend and had Sunday dinner in here there was 5 of us & 5 week old baby they welcomed us like part of there family there was plenty of signs & markings down explaining where to go & what to do they have all the social distance process down to a fine art. Felt very safe must be 1 of the safest pubs i've been in. There was no menus but a very large chalk board with everything wrote on we nearly all had something different & every meal was perfect mine was homemade cheese and bacon burger with onion rings the wife had the homemade steak pie and she loved ever bit of it,i must say my burger is one of the best i've tasted nearly as good as Gordon Ramsey's will definitely pay them a visit next time we come.

Had lunch here, as it scored high on Google maps and I would definitely recommend. Nice little pub, which is larger inside than it looks. I like the split bar which creates a public bar and lounge/restaurant seating. Staff were great/really friendly and the food/drink was served quickly. Good selection of beers. Best part, the food! It was great, with good portion size, cooked to perfection and way above normal pub standard. Very tasty. A perfect lunch for a day's walking.

Monday night, post VV busy Pateley show weekend. Malaysian curry flavours exactly what you’d expect, spicy but warming coconut flavors, a nice variation to the traditional pub grub. (If you haven’t had Matts steak and Ale pie, you’ve missed a reet treat) CHECK OUT THE SPECIALS!! Great mix of local and seasonal meals. Game season is here. Super experienced pub run by people who care, can’t be faulted. Thanks guys
