Shocking Customer Service – Aggressive and Unacceptable Behaviour at The Deli
I had an absolutely shocking experience at The Deli in Chalfont St. Giles. While the coffee and food are decent, the customer service is completely unacceptable.
I arrived, ordered a coffee and breakfast, and sat down to do some work. Later on, I ordered tea and cake as well—I was not simply occupying space, I was a paying customer. However, that seemed to make no difference.
Without warning, the chef approached me and abruptly stated, "If you don’t leave by noon, I will kick you out." I was completely taken aback. I explained that I was still drinking my tea and finishing my food, but he was insistent that I leave.
True to his word, the chef physically took the cup of tea from my hand and then grabbed my laptop from the table. He told me he would return it to me outside. This behaviour was completely irrational and deeply concerning. I quickly gathered my belongings and stepped outside, only to realise my laptop was nowhere to be seen.
Feeling alarmed, I went back inside, where a staff member handed it to me and apologised. The fact that an employee felt the need to apologise for the chef’s actions speaks volumes.
This kind of behaviour presents serious risks. No business owner or staff member should ever forcibly take a customer’s belongings or dictate when they must leave, especially when they have been purchasing food and drink. It is unprofessional, confrontational, and completely unacceptable. The level of hostility displayed was entirely unnecessary and raises serious concerns about how this establishment is run.
There are plenty of cafés where customers are treated with basic courtesy and respect. I will not be returning, and I strongly urge others to think twice before supporting a business that engages in such...
Read moreLeft today speechless and embarrassed to be honest after being shouted out by a staff member who I can only presume was the chef/owner. New to the area, visiting friends and my 1 year old baby was hungry. We went to the coffee place across the road first but they didn’t have much food so we got our coffees to take away. We then saw the deli and thought perfect let’s order food. After ordering food, the gentleman saw our takeaway cups on the table we were going to sit at inside and he shouted at me and husband in front of diners! We laughed it off as I just wanted food for my baby. We ended up going outside to wait for the food which we got as a takeaway. But my baby was hungry so I ended up feeding her outside. Literally Embarrassed and appalled by the customer service!! To talk to someone like that...

From the beginning a lady told me - I have to ask my manager if we allow laptops here....Bear in mind that I haven't even had the chance of ordering my coffe and the full breakfast. There are some young girls and a boy which were really lovely and friendly but unfortunately 2 other ladies the blonde hair one and the order darker hair absolutely RUDE. They've watched me for 1h almost saying when are you going to leave....Honestly I am disgusted of their atitudine. In the end another person came with a laptop and both ladies started to smile at him, but for a reason or another I wasn't allowed.
