I don't normally write reviews if I've had a disappointing meal or bad service. But today I feel I have to write .We visited The emperor in Blackpond lane this evening we hadn't book but it was early so we took a chance and just dropped in. They had a free table and we were seated very quickly. That sadly was the most positive thing about our experience of the evening. We were given menus and the waitress very quickly came and took our order. It was only after we had ordered that another table were seated given menus and told about the specials available, something we hadn't been told anything about. Our meals arrived a chicken breast stuffed with brie and cranberry and a mushroom risotto. The chicken didn't appear to have any brie or cranberry in it but it was so small and dry maybe it did have at the start of the cooking process. The risotto was very bland it didn't actually taste of anything. We came away feeling completely ripped off. If the waitress that served us had been more interested in all her customers and not just her table of friends we may have come away disappointed with the food but not feeling completely under valued as a...
Read moreNot great prebooked there for daughers 18th birthday spending a lot , they changed table we thought we would have as they had a bigger booking, despite the fact that we had popped in the day before to agree which table and had paid in advance for wine, no apology from staff or the waitress with long black hair ( who we had spoken to the day before to make sure everything was going to be perfect for our celebration). The new table they put us on the sun was shining in everyones eyes staff didnt know what to do as no blinds , food was ok fish and chips nice, wine lovely! but generally would not recommend. We went to the oaks pub nearby after as were spending a lot more money and didn't want to stay at the emperor pub. The oaks pub was much better wish we had booked there instead. Despite regularly attending the emperor in summer months we wont go to the...
Read moreWe visited on a Saturday, early evening. Despite the pub not being overly busy, the staff seemed rushed. Our pint of Bitter was thrust across the bar at us, spilling in the process, leaving us with a wet sticky glass before we'd even sat down. The menu is fairly compact but generally with something for every taste. Our food arrived at the table after around 20 minutes but the pasta dish was barely warm. This is purely my opinion but I think it might have been left on the side until the Burger was also ready so they could be served together. A little salad on the side would have been most welcome also. The pub itself has a warm, friendly feel to it, with a large peaceful Garden and ample off road parking is provided. We will be back for drinks but sadly not...
