Booked a table for 6:30 rang to ask if we can have an earlier table. Told they were full until our allotted table time. Which was fine with us due to been valentines. We arrived and the restaurant was empty with just our table being there. After our drinks order was taken one drink arrived wrong. Which contained lavender which my wife is allergic to. Luckily this wasn’t her drink. We ordered our food for the manager to come back across 3 minutes later to state they didn’t have our starters in stock. Which the manager proceeded to tell us with his fly down at our table. Waiting 25 minutes for our starters they arrived and my antipasti looked very underwhelming and didn’t taste of much. One of our table had the prawns which lacked flavoured. This is when we should have called it a day. Our mains arrived for me to find my ravioli had been fried. I asked for pepper and was given a mini ramekin of pepper brought by the waitress. Wagu burgers didn’t look like wagu. Steak was hard to cut and very chewy. Peppercorn sauce was very runny. we didn’t want to ask for the food to be recooked when manager came to ask but we were very reluctant to answer when asked he asked if food was okay. The manager then proceeded to argue with me with anything I brought up to him. Including calling my wife a liar that he hadn’t said on phone they were full and also that food is always good. I would avoid as no actual service and...
Read moreThis was a lovely place to visit. The menu was concise, and everything we ordered was delightful. I had a pork rib eye which was beautifully tender, and with a week-judged green peppercorn sauce that complemented but did not overwhelm. My wife's rare beef rib eye with Roquefort sauce was also delicious. Side veg was great, and kids meals really good (my kids are fussy eaters, and the pasta Bolognese and sausages really hit the spot).
Desserts were also excellent: the passion fruit Eton mess was tart and flavourful, and the chocolate mumble with caramel sauce wonderful. Wine list was basic if you were drinking by the glass (it was lunchtime), but what we had was very enjoyable.
Grumbles? Not many. Food was a bit slo to arrive,, possibly because we skipped starters, and there was a couple of dishes missing from the menu, which was a pity. Service was helpful and friendly, though. Can't comment on value for money as I was...
Read moreI ate at the Foresters and suffered terrible food poisoning after I got home that night. I contacted them to let them know as soon as possible so they could trace the source and prevent others from becoming sick at their restaurant. But my feedback was received with complete and utter arrogance and, despite several emails, they didn't even bother to get in touch again. I was made to feel as if I were a complete nuisance. As well as contracting food poisoning, the service was below par that evening and it took them 40 minutes to get my starter out and a further 30 for mains to be served. At the end of the meal I waited so long to get the bill I had to ask the bar to take care of it for me. The restaurant gave poor service from poorly trained staff and food that gives that makes sure you go home with an experience you'll...
