Must be hit and miss for experiences visiting here, as mine was definitely not a bad experience, at all, as other reviews have had.

The decor was typical of this sort of pub. Looked good, and typical of family friendly pubs, now, with the checked chairs and such. Liked the map on the wall (same as Queen's head has on the ceilling) When we visited it was a Friday evening so was chocka, as lots of people seemd to have bought the vouchers and were in using them. We had not booked so did end up on a table right near main door, which wasn't ideal as there was also a large group ended up behind us with lots of kids, and the adults constantly going past to bar and toilets, and kids moving around the table and people coming in main doors, past. However, out fault for not booking. Was still okay though.

I had the parmo. Parmo itself was absolutely delicious - thoroughly enjoyed that. Nice melted cheese and moist chicken. It was perfect. The chips were slightly over cooked, though. Didn't come with the mayo, as described in menu. Came with some awful purple cabbage coleslaw, which I left as tasted weird and tangy, like vinegary, not creamy like coleslaw usually does. The food presented nicely and wait wasn't too bad. Had the cornflake tart after. This was average. Could tell it had been bought in rather than made, but this is typical of the kind of 'family pub' food, where mains are more likely to have proper home cooked elements and desserts tend to be bought in, frozen ones.

There was plenty of waiting staff on duty and they were all lovely and attentive. Can't fault the table service at all.

Would be good to have a drinks menu, as well as food menus. Not really sure if it's a pub where you can go just for drinks. I'd go again, for food and a few drinks, but would hope for a table in a quieter area. (Or an adults only area, similar to...

Lovely referb although spending so much on food didn’t expect to have people sat at bar stools being rowdy getting drunk. If charging so much for food it needs to not be the local piss up too. Quality of food did not reflect the high prices. Kids nuggets burned, tiny portion of beans, our parmos over done, salad very oily and greasy, haloumi starter was clearly frozen and bought in and was undercooked. Asked for kids meals with our starters, didn’t happen, kids got their food after our mains which wasn’t good. Ordered desserts for the kids, never came, we were actually up getting our coats on when desserts finally arrived. Advised the supervisor/manager we were leaving as they took so long, to which he was very rude and told me that they are very busy! Completely unprofessional no apologies very arrogant and when half the tables were empty it’s not a good enough excuse! Mess up with the bill to which I still think we we were over charged but by this point just wanted to get out the place. All other staff very polite and friendly except the male manager/supervisor who could do with some training on customer service and handling of complaints. I know new establishments have some teething issues but this shudnt include quality of food or staff attitude, these are things that should be exceptional...

We checked the menu online before booking, when we got there we received a different menu. Queried with one of the staff who wasn’t sure, checked and said they haven’t updated their website or Facebook page - and they have changed their menu this week. Disappointing as probably wouldn’t have come if we knew this. The decor was lovely, everything seems squashed together - not a lot of space between tables. The music is either very quiet, or then shoots up and too loud. The forks and knives were just chucked on the table, not even given in a basket or wrapped in a napkin. Maybe buy less candles and more cutlery baskets 🤣. The food was ok. The price, which is expensive, didn’t reflect what actually arrived on the plate. The chicken parmo was burnt and dry, scampi was clearly frozen and not fresh, mushy peas inedible and visibly not appealing. Deserts expensive, £6 - definitely not worth the money. Sticky toffee pudding was burnt and dry, dangerously hot - definitely been in the microwave for too long. Did complain about this and they did put this off the bill, when the bill came it didn’t get took off, had to go back to ask them to re-do the bill.

Overall, wouldn’t recommend. Expensive for nearly £50 for 2 people with 2 main courses, one desert & 3 drinks in...

A spur of the moment call on a wet Tuesday afternoon in April, around 2pm. The pub itself is respectfully decorated and well maintained. There is a bar with pool table and TV, to the other side there is more of a lounge area with tv and a partitioned side (at the time of writing) serving meals. The bar areas are relatively tidy and reasonably presented although all drinks were not available today. Food can only be judged on the lunch time menu (photo attached) and although prepared and cooked ok, portion size was a little disappointing. The toilets are either keeping a historical charm or funds ran short during the refurb - quite a let down. On the whole, worth a visit but seems a little overpriced on both food and drink when you consider this is located in a village with local competitors offering more value for money and promotions on food/drink options.

Sunday lunch take away I really wanted to like it being a local business Good portions Veg was cooked and soft Roast potatoes tasteless The chicken was a tad tough Lots of vegetables Gravy The Yorkshire tasted nice but was flat and soggy due to being in a bag Arrived hot Overall it was ok but nothing special Mushy peas kind of ruined it for me as well as on a roast is not my thing The stuffing cubes were awful, definitely not appetising they were hard Hubby had all the meats He thought the parsnips were really nice but agreed the stuffing was a let down I would say 5/10 Take away quality but would not dine in
