We decided to visit the Griffin pub for our works night out as the previous year we had had a good evening there. BUT it was dreadful! As it was a Sunday we thought we'd get a table. There was 12 of us. We got there at 7pm. We eventually got a table we could eat at about 8.30pm. We ordered our food at the bar immediately. 1 hour later the food arrived!! All of the meals were barely warm. One person sent their curry back, as the plate and food was ice cold!! It took them half an hour to replace her food, everyone else had finished there's. While she was eating the staff were clearing the table. How rude!! We asked if we could have pudding. We were told we couldn't as the kitchen was shut, we should have ordered Pud when we ordered our mains!! The pub was dirty, very noisy, terrible service, rude staff and bad quality cold food. Won't be going there...

This became very noisy with a large group of standing patrons adjacent to our table.
We did not have long to wait to be served and called up for the carvery. The carvery itself was v.good. 3 meats to choose from and very well cooked veg (not soggy) with a choice of veg or meat gravy. The food tasted really good.
Unfortunately the table location really spoilt the meal, we decided not to stop for coffee or deserts. So vg reasonably priced food, but unless you like it loud, ask for a table in the dining room, or just to right of...
Read moreVisited yesterday for lunch after hearing lots good things about the pub and wasnt disappointed. Not been in this pub for many years and was pleasantly surprised, lovely friendly welcome and service (few more pubs could do with a barmaid like her). Food was great, good value and well cooked. My Dad had fish & chips said best he'd had in a long time, the waitress even apologised for the wait (although wasnt a problem we were enjoying a drink) because chef wasnt happy with 1st fish so did another one. Overall a nice local pub and will definitely be back looking forward to giving the sunday carvery a go if our lunch was anything to go by. Keep up the good work well done to the team...
