I loved this place and am so pleased we found it (hidden though it somewhat is!). It's everything I want for a seaside lunch. Excellent food with the freshest fish and great vege options, fully unpretentious, breathtaking views and a lovely walk to burn off those calories. I had the bouillabaisse (I'm normally vege but stretched to a little fish as it looked so good) and saw others having dhal which looked and smelled amazing. Love this place and will be back when we're next down there. We went in early January so it was cold and a little wet. But it's next to a fantastic beach, and I'm a sucker for great hot food near a stormy, brooding winter sea! I imagine it gets busy in the summer as there aren't loads of seats. But if it means Al fresco beach lunch I can think of worse things! All in all, truly excellent and can't speak highly enough of it! Oh and there's a reasonably priced, pay and display car park right near by (5ish mins easy walk)!

The place is definitely hidden and looks onto a small dog friendly beach. We just had to queue for a parking space at the top car park and walk down a narrow path it took less than 5 minutes, google reckoned 2 minutes but you also need to use two set of stairs one down then straight up again. In the dip it gives you another set of long stairs to get onto the beach. The hut definitely looks like ordinary garden sheds. People are queueing with social distancing and it tooka little while to order. Wooden seats looking like logs are available in front with Seaview. Most people used the grass area behind to eat or tool food down to the beach. We had the Thai King Prawn Dish, Spinach Chickpea Saag with Naanbread and the Sausage Dish. Afterwards we tried the ice cream. All food was amazingly tasty and we will return next time we are in Cornwall. Food was in eco friendly cardboard containers. Toilets are to the right of the food pick up corner.

What can I say the reviews do it justice and is one of the great gems in Cornwall Access is from the coastal path up some steps or a short walk from the beach. Great food and the staff are really friendly and a real credit. Good selection from sausage rolls, cakes, ice creams, hot and cold drinks. Quick service so don't walk away if there's is a queue you will definitely miss out!. Longest I had to wait was 10 minutes. A fair amount of seating here or just as easy to sit on the beach. Toilets to the side with bins next to them All rubbish is recycled off site. Top Tip 1 Don't be a holidaymaker and go for the pasty try the Dahl or Beef Ciabatta.Plenty of veg options. Top Tip 2. Seating gets filled quickly at lunchtimes a it's so popular so get there early or take a beach blanket and sit out on the hill. Enjoy one of Cornwall's best foodie heavens.

Loved it when exciting soups were a fiver each with fresh roll and interesting topppings. Not so long ago. Dahl was always a winner with us too. Good and creamy, again with imaginative finishers such as the crispy onions, sour cream etc. Plus a lovely warm pitta. Good times.

However. Prices are now mental. Queues of rich southern folk snake almost to the beach. This is their playground, after all. And they do like to play.

No problem, I guess - as long as the food holds up. But today the pulled pork was under-seasoned and lacked any real flavour. The bun was tired, too airy and seemed almost like yesterdays leftover bread. Slaw minimal, sauce negligible. This pig-lover was not impressed.

Tomato Soup perfectly passable and the crouton / pesto topping was vintage THH - but to charge a full £8.50 for something which, by the cook's own admission, consists mainly of blended and seasoned tinned plum tomatoes... it does stick in the craw somewhat.

I suppose all these outfits have their narrative arc. Word of mouth and copious press coverage certainly worked for THH. But something has been lost. I don't need to queue for 40 minutes then spend £60 for a snacky lunch if it's not going to be top drawer. It's just too much for many of us.

So, St Mawes Bakery. I suppose all is forgiven. Your £5 pasties suddenly seem like the perfect hole-filler for this empty tummy. Less pretentious, less expensive, less time wasted in a queue. Save me a few for the...

We visited on a cold day so were excited to find a place to get a warm drink by the beauty of the beach. The staff were really welcoming and kind. We originally were only going to get a hot cuppa, but the food and atmosphere pulled us into the idea of lunch. My friend and I both ordered the steak pasty and then shared half of 2 of their cakes.

The pasty was so delicious, both my friend and I agree that it was the best pasty we have ever had. I would say we are both experienced guests and have exceptionally high standards. We both cook well and appreciate good food. We don't give high praise easily and we both independently said we would give the pasty's a 5 star and both independently said it was the best we had had. There was no stodgy pasty, it was light, flaky and yet robust. The cuts of steak were not gristly rubbish you can find in a pasty but good lean cuts well seasoned and not drowned in the stodge of a high carb thick pastry. Absolutely delicious.

The 2 cakes we tried were also moist and light with flavour and not too sweet. Just right. The views were beautiful. The ambiance was great. The only improvement (which I did not lose any marks for as it is just adding extra to something already great), would be some kind of warmth, like a patio heater, maybe some kind of shelter and kind break (but something natural and in keeping with the beauty of the location).

A really wonderful place, well done. Would highly recommend and would...

Been visiting here for ten years always make a pilgrimage whilst in holiday the food is always top notch. Stunning beach setting great for rockpooling. Service is slick. Have to knock a star off this year afraid that's down to price. 14.50 for chilli and a whopping 17 pound for seafood soup now this had some dressed crab on top but I expected some sort of substantial side. The soup itself was extra tasty but devoid of any noticeable chunks of seafood. More of a shellfish stock soup with white crab meat on top. Really disappointing! Best part of 50 pound for 3 soups and a chilli. Served in cardboard containers which is fine but gives you a idea of size. I would normally order the menu here. I have had some cracking meals/experiences here over the years and have the cookbook. I would also order a round of their delicious homemade cakes for desert. More than happy to pay for amazing food but this year the shine came off a little due to pricing. Would I keep coming back? I'm not sure maybe I'll try their new pub next. Here for two weeks was planning in 2 visits I...
