I love old style pubs and buildings and this was one of them. Instantly loved the place. The pub was busy but the staff were very friendly and helped us check in and see our room. I was impressed by how friendly people were which included the customers. The room was nice and cozy, with the windows opening to the road, for a nice view of the street. Since the room faces the road, it's a bit noisy and you can hear music. But it was not very disturbing at least for us. The only not so good experience was the shower. A bit too low pressure shower. Other than that, we liked the room. The breakfast was tasty and the lady who served us was very friendly, calm and bubbly. Checkout was very easy too. There's a cute little outside seating area as well. The vibe and energy in the place is just awesome. Can't help much with the travel information, since we had various stop overs and means. A few restaurants, take aways, off-license stores, stores for shopping, Co-op express and a bigger Co-Op are all in the vicinity.

Stayed here to attend a wedding reception in Bodenham, breakfast was the only high point, the staff were friendly but the room was average and the lack of any insulation meant a poor nights sleep. We could hear next doors conversation and then had to put the TV on to try and drown the noise from the people above us, who decided to walk around their room until gone 2am! The old style of the building looks lovely but floorboards are very creaky meaning every single footstep felt and sounded like someone had jumped up and down! Not the owners fault but the lack of local taxis meant we had to drive to the wedding reception which put a downer on the stay, I even asked for a number and the card I was given no one answered. I’d suggest if you are doing something similar to book a week in an advanced, as the only one we could get was from Hereford but quoted around Ā£85 for a return journey.

nice old pub situated in a small but lively village, stayed for the night as a couple, upon arrival we were shown up to our room and not given any information, the room was very small, wooden beams and wooden creaky floor, but nice, modern, and clean, shower was quite weak and took around 10 mins to heat up, the pub was quite noisy until around 12am, walls are very holo, free breakfast was really nice and freshly cooked in the morning. overall a pleasant stay and good nights sleep

Not sure where to start other than chastising myself for booking this without properly reading the reviews. As an avid researcher I really should have known better. On our arrival midweek, mid-afternoon the pub was heaving which I wasn’t expecting for a Tuesday. We were ā€˜greeted’ by a rather sullen looking girl who begrudgingly checked us in and showed us to our room. At first glance the room looked ok. Reasonably clean other than a lot of mould in the shower. First thing we found was an extremely loose toilet seat which was not ideal. The worst problem though was the shower. I went in and tried everything to get the water cool enough to tolerate but nothing would work. Having long hair, standing in extremely hot water trying to rinse shampoo out was no laughing matter. My husband could not get it any cooler either so we were extremely disappointed as a nice shower is a must when staying away, particularly as we were attending a wedding the next day. When I did reexamine previous reviews, this issue HAS been mentioned before but the owners have obviously totally ignored the problem. |In booking a pub room, I did expect some noise from downstairs but considering it was a just Tuesday, it was exceptionally loud and very busy. Unfortunately our room was right over the bar and the very loud music didn’t stop until 11:15 was very annoying.|After attending the wedding the next day, on arriving back the following night at just before midnight, the pub was closed but really annoyingly the small rear car park was full, I’m guessing with local residents as the pub at this point was ā€˜supposedly’ closed, so we ended up parking up the road which wasn’t ideal. Whilst walking through the rear courtyard there was a number of inebriated youths which was interesting, and whilst entering the property I was nearly smashed in the face by a very drunk young woman trying to get outside.|The following day, when we thought things couldn’t get any worse, we went down for breakfast to be greeted by….a completely empty pub and locked kitchen. As we needed to get home we just packed our bags and left. I contacted the pub the same day via email and did receive an apology and promise of refund for the breakfasts. That was over a week ago and despite me sending numerous emails, there has been no refund.|I am giving our stay 1 star for the breakfasts we had on the first day. The building itself is lovely, but sadly badly let down by the owners who appear to not give a damn about the premises or the guests. All in all an exceptionally disappointing stay we hope not to repeat elsewhere...

Something has gone seriously wrong here, not sure whether there’s been a change of ownership but my stay was one of the worst I’ve ever had.

Checked in online a couple of days before to let them know I’d be arriving around 11.30pm, then got a call the afternoon of my stay saying that would be a problem, ā€œwe don’t normally have anyone around that lateā€. I reminded them that their site advertises 24 hour checkin and the reply was ā€œyeah I’ve just seen that, I’ll have to get it changedā€.

I said I’d try to arrive earlier and did, arriving just after 9.30 to find the doors locked and no signs of life inside. I found a mobile number taped to the door which I called multiple times with no answer. Walked to the back of the building and found another taped mobile number which also went unanswered.

After 15 minutes of trying, I’d given up and was researching other places to stay, when someone came downstairs and noticed me outside, ā€œoh are you the 11.30? Did you try calling? I’ve not been checking my phoneā€.

So I did eventually get checked in…but the interior was in terrible condition, the bar area doubled as the reception but didn’t look like it was meant to be open to the public, staff belongings and piles of paperwork left all over the place etc. I was told breakfast was between 7 and 10 but that I’d need to let them know exactly what time I’d be down to eat. I said 9.30, and went to my room, which was ok apart from the black mould in the shower.

I was woken up after midnight by a couple having a violent drunken argument outside my room which lasted about 20 minutes (not sure whether they were guests or the owners). Honestly felt unsafe, given how thin the walls were, and how insecure the door of my room was. Similarly woken every couple of hours through the night.

And then I went downstairs at 9.30 to find the ground floor deserted, while the dining area only had a couple of tables laid out and the rest of the room was filled with assorted junk and building materials. I gave up on breakfast, dropped my keys on the bar, and left. An all round...

Very disappointing. We had a meal on Friday night - perhaps it was the chef's night off. Staff were very pleasant and attentive and the starters were good, but the mains left a lot to be desired. Pastry was not cooked through properly on one dish, but when this was raised with staff, a woman appeared from the kitchen, came to our table, and then started to argue that it wasn't raw, just soaked in gravy!! The more she spoke, it became all too apparent that she hadn't had much experience of cooking pastry. Then a very long hair was found wrapped within a fish dish, which was then taken back to the kitchen, only to reappeared a short time later, with no resemblance to the original. Not good at all - small strips of fish - no seasoning, tasteless and the new potatoes were not cooked either! Others in our party thought their meals were just o.k but nothing special. Please - this is not the way to conduct a restaurant - most unprofessional - shows incompetence in and out of the kitchen, especially when dealing with customers who have a great deal of cooking experience themselves! The menu is too large for the capabilities of the kitchen staff. There are much better places to eat in Bromyard and better value for standard of...
