This is my local pub, it's been redecorated in recent years and it's lovely inside. Drinks are a bit on the expensive side for a local, similar to Yarm prices. Really great pub for watching sports though as there are loads of screens.
The reason for the three stars is my experience of the food, and i will state for the record that I am vegetarian. First time eating there was a Sunday lunch when it first opened which was really decent so i had high hopes. About a year ago I had vegetarian enchiladas which were not reheated properly and were cold in the middle. I tried eating there again a month or so ago and had an onion bhaji burger which can only be described as soggy. My partner had different meals to me which he said were good, but my experiences weren't great. He also tried my last meal there and agreed how awful it was. In fairness to the Ivy Tree, I didn't complain and I probably should have, but I wouldn't eat there again.
The staff behind the bar are really nice, and service is good. However, one time we were in there and one of the young lads behind the bar was getting berated by (I presume) management. Apparently he had left a door open which he shouldn't have. The young lad was spoken to terribly and in earshot of customers. It was really unpleasant to witness. Maybe he was having a bad day or something, but that is no way to speak to your staff.
In summary it's a great pub for watching sports, but I wouldn't...
Read moreStaff took ages to tell us whether a table available despite the place being pretty much empty. The food was a very small portion, and the veg wasn’t fresh and came in a bowl full of water at the bottom… Not to mention the one carrot that was dumped inside the mash potato. Yorkshire pudding was frozen and the meat was two slices mainly fat. Still hungry so ended up going to Toby carvery 10 miles down the road. Even told the staff about a spilled drink and didn’t bother mopping it up. Must of knew the meal was a shambles as the waitress didn’t even ask if the food was ok for us and when we left no one even said bye or anything. This place looks good on the outside for a cooked meal but once the food arrives it is very disappointing. Overpriced for what there was aswell. Wouldn’t recommend, not happy at all will definitely never go...
Read moreWhat a transformation. The decor is superb. As soon as you walk in it feels so warm and welcoming. The staff are equally friendly and couldn't do enough for us in particular the young Manager Fin. After a wander around checking out every inch of the place we ordered our breakfast. This was delicious and certainly enough for me. The coffee was equally delicious. It may have cost more than I usually pay but it was well worth it. I just had to check out the ladies. These were spotless. All around are famous sayings as well as plenty of largescreen TVs. Even in the garden area there are TVs . There are lots of Art Deco light fittings around which I particularly love. This may have been my first visit but it won't be my...
