Small, dog friendly pub, a few hundred yards west of bridge 29 on the Macclesfield canal. Serving real ale and draught beer with a small but excellent wine cellar, the one downside on the drinks menu only bottled cider stocked. The restaurant menu is small but the quality and portion size is excellent, you will not leave still feeling hungry. This is one of the best pubs I have visited in Cheshire and will be on my visit list whenever am in the Macclesfield area.

Wet N Wild but what a welcome. Great staff- great beers - great food. On the wettest Bank Holiday Monday after a challenging bike ride the guys and girls made us feel welcome. Warmed us up with blankets and gave us cushions to sit on. Hot chocolate too. Great service. Well done Lord Clyde and thanks for the outdoor heaters and shelter. Brilliant!

We decided to go out for pub tea one night and stumbled across this place on Google so decided that because it’s close by to our house we will try it out, From arriving we had fantastic service and the food was absolutely incredible. It was all freshly made and tasted absolutely amazing. Had to recommend this place and don’t you worry we will be back.

We chose to stop at the Lord Clyde on a walk on Wednesday because I checked the Facebook site on Monday that said the pub was opening for lunch on Wednesday at 12. We arrived just before 11.50 with the intention of waiting outside until the pub opened at 12. However the door was open, the lights were on and staff around so we politely asked if the bar was open. We were asked if we were with with Astra Zeneca, we said no so we were told abruptly that the pub was shut for a private party and they would not serve us a drink. We sat outside for a few minutes during which time a sign was put outside saying the pub was shut for a private party. Would have been far better to have politely explained the situation and offered to serve us a drink at least if we had waited until the official opening time. At which time the private party had still not arrived. It seems the Lord Clyde are more interested in obtaining business from corporate customers. We should have just lied and said we worked for Astra Zeneca. I’m sure we’d have been served no...

The Lord Clyde has worked really hard to accommodate customers with the Covid restrictions since the lockdown parameters lifted. There are a number of additional outside tables with a lovely wooden pergola now in place which has outdoor patio heaters to keep you warm. (Hot water bottles can also be requested, lovely idea)! The other tables are at present covered with gazebos to cope with the spring weather. There is now a fabulous horse trailer providing hot and cold drinks, Bacon and Sausage Butties and the most amazing homemade chocolate brownies!! The menu for outdoor dining is one of the best in the area. It’s high quality pub grub served by lovely helpful and friendly ladies, Caroline and Katy. Caroline’s the cook’s cakes are absolutely delicious!! Sue and Julian have worked hard, the place looks great and the food is well cooked, well presented and good value for money! Well done Lord...

Made a special walking trip from Macclesfield to The Lord Clyde A Facebook post this week said the pub was open for lunch at 12. On arriving about 11.50 and walking through the open door the two grumpy bar maids said no drinks or food as they were only catering for a party that day, despite the pub being open and there just being two of us. Very unfriendly and unapologetic staff. We sat outside and watched them put a sign outside saying closed. Won’t...
