The Mill Bay / The Plaice To Be — Restaurant in England

As a local to the island the mill bay hasn’t been my first choice and often gets over looked. My family and friends eat out a lot around the island and when with kids it’s often disappointing and expensive. We were all pleasantly surprised today by the mill bay.

The kids meals were simple and decent and the adults fish chips was by far the best (genuinely better quality at half the price) I’ve had in a pub on the isle for a long time and at £12 for two it’s unbeatable value. This is simple well thought out pub food and extremely well priced. It’s a very good choice for family’s looking to eat on the seafront. We were served drinks quickly and the food wasn’t rushed or delayed. Waitresses service was great and landlord checked to make sure everything was good.

Almost didn’t leave a review because it’s annoying getting a table most places, and don’t want to not get one here next time !

Had a lovely lunch but was rudely spoken to by the resident singer. We were still eating when he was placing his equipment around us; which we accepted, then he basically wanted us out of our seats so he could set up his equipment. We politely told him that we were still finishing our drinks when he became very rude and hostile. Stating he was going to get the Landlady; found out she ran the pub and the restaurant. If it was known that a singer needed our corner then we should not have been given the table. Sadly his rudeness cost the staff their tip. He’s also lucky we didn’t...

Coeliac / Gluten free friendly A+ Had fish and chips here yesterday which were freshly prepared. Having Coeliac disease i am always nervous when eating out as i get a reaslly bad reaction if i have any gluten. basically vomitting for 3-4 hours and out of action for the next 12hrs or so. Anyway, the chef assured me that they took lots of steps to ensure food would not be cross contaminated such as cooking in seperate oil etc etc. Really good food, no reaction and great value so thank you and i will be back. 100%...
