If you want average canned and frozen food for breakfast with s decent ocean view, this might be the place for you. This review is for breakfast only.
Let's start with the Mochas. We both ordered mochas which were weak, despite ordering an extra shot. We also offered in takeaway cups, but they came in regular cups. The taste was poor and there was no cream.
My wife ordered blueberry pancakes. They were the sort of pancakes that come out of a bag from the bread isle at Tesco's. They were small, dry, tasteless, and totally inadequate. They looked like kid's pancakes, about the length of the forked part of a fork ,very small, and there were only 3 on the plate.
The blueberries were clearly from a bag of frozen berries. The berries weren't even in the pancakes, which is how I know they're not fresh pancakes cooked onsite. The berries were warmed and put into a small serving pot on the side. They were also small and pathetic, clearly not even quality frozen blueberries.
I ordered the vegetarian version of the English breakfast. It too was a plate full of unoriginal, average frozen and canned food. The hashbrowns were those fake triangle frozen hashbron cake things. The beans were canned beans I can pull off the shelf at Aldi for 23 pence. The sausage was clearly from another box of frozen food, mushy and not even quality frozen sausages. The mushrooms were also likely canned as they all looked about the same, a sure sign of processed food. The only thing on the plae that was cooked there or fresh was the one tomato cut in half and put on a ceill for a minute or two. All really bad food.
I understand, most people don't know the difference between good food and poor quality food. You can see that from all the good reviews here. For the prices charged, a restaurant should at least cook the food for you and present you with real and fresh items.
Others just don't care that its average food and just love the location. I understand the views and location make up for a lot. There is a nice kid's wading pool and a nice walk along the beach and esplanade. If you have young children and like paying a lot of money for average frozen and canned food, this might be a good...
Read moreNot a great experience, unfortunately. The lunch-style food, eg sandwhiches, were all pretty expensive and didn't look that great. The rest of the menu looked more like a dinner menu, even though it was a cafe. Eg, the fish and chips wasn't like "seaside fish and chips" but rather what one might order in a restaurant. Not really what we wanted for lunch.
My wife wasn't feeling great and just wanted some soup. But they said that they were out of soup. We just ended up sharing some fishcakes in the end: £10. They were ok, I guess. We buy fishcakes from Tesco sometimes; the Tesco ones are better. The chips were nice, though.
Service was ok, but not very attentitive. It was ~2pm by the time we were there, so well past the busiest phase. We still didn't get much attention and were told that it would be a 30min wait for food. That's far too slow for a café when the order is placed gone 2pm on a Monday (not bank holiday). Server wasn't so polite when I instinctively replied, "Really? 30mins?"
We went on Monday and, it turns out, a lot of the cafés in Ventnor are closed on Monday. The only other place that was open was the Seapot, but that had a big wait and we didn't get there until around 1:30pm, so didn't fancy a wait. It has great reviews, so probably should've just waited and gone there, in hindsight.
I recommend going on a different day and/or...

Where do I even start?
From the moment I walked in, everything was a delight—from the warm atmosphere and friendly staff to the delicate, unforgettable taste of the Eggs Benedict. What a wonderful place to enjoy a coffee (in my case, a rich and enchanting cappuccino) or a lovely lunch.
I asked the owner for a brunch/lunch recommendation that would truly elevate the taste buds. Without hesitation, he suggested the Eggs Benedict with salmon, a side of crispy hash browns, and freshly smashed avocado—and wow, it did not disappoint!
My cappuccino arrived quickly and was deliciously rich. About 15 minutes later, the main course came out looking absolutely mouthwatering. It was beautifully presented, explained kindly by the waitress, and ready to be devoured.
The eggs and salmon on the fresh bun were bursting with flavor and truly uplifted my palate. The hash browns were perfectly crisp and flavorful, and the smashed avocado was incredibly fresh—a real standout on the plate!
After the meal, I felt warm, full, and completely satisfied. I highly recommend this place—excellent hospitality, incredible food, and a vibe that just feels good. It’s safe to say I’ll...
