A delightful find at the end of a coastal tour of Northumberland - pleasant but ubiquitous, and adjacent to a caravan site whose members it serves. Everyone was very friendly, the food very good value but a very limited vegetarian selection. Another negative was that several items on the menu were unavailable - I think because of a change in seasons - but this made making choices a little flustered as my choice wasn’t available and I had to rethink quickly. However the food that came was well served, and very tasty so it’s a minor issue. Would happily go there again.

Staying in Amble for a few days in a cottage and found this place whilst out walking along the dunes with our dog. Really surprised at the standard given that it's attached to the adjacent holiday lodge park. Didn't get as far as the food, but given that it allowed dogs in and had some excellent beers on tap served by friendly staff who allowed a tab to be set up against a card (they put in a card-safe), was good enough for us. Only a few minutes walk from our rented cottage as well. Will revisit.

Very disappointing 🙁 Came for food on a weeknight and even though it was very quiet it still seemed understaffed. Food mostly tasted microwaved, cake was dry and pizza was extremely bready with way too much cheese. Could be enjoyable to some but too greasy for my taste. We didn’t complain because the staff already seemed rushed but it seems a shame as this used to be a lovely place to eat.

STAFF ACTED INAPPROPRIATELY, INCOMPETENTLY AND MOST OF ALL LIED

I left my bag at the restaurant after having a lunch there one Sunday. After only realising the bag wasn't with me towards the end of my car journey back home to Edinburgh, I immediately called the restaurant to ensure the bag got put aside safely.

I spoke to 'a manager' and expressed what was in the bag (valuables including a purse with ID, bank cards, driving licence; Ipad etc) and kindly asked for the bag to be posted to myself, offering to cover all postage costs. After sharing my address and contact details, I was promised that the bag would be sent THE NEXT DAY.

Such ' THE NEXT DAY' promises over the phone were made on 6 separate days during my constant, daily phone calls. I was refused to speak to 'a manager' who was supposedly on holiday (without any coverage?). After numerous phone calls, I sent an email to the restaurant to have a written proof of the situation and my ongoing attempts requesting to have my bag sent to me. I kept on phoning the place nonetheless and sent another email on a friday, followed with another phone call. It is worth to point out that I never received an email back.

I finally managed to get in touch with a manager over the next weekend, who told me she didn’t know much about what happened and she supposedly never spoke to me in the past. Over the phone, she made a promise, nr 8, to get the bag sent to me herself at the beginning of next week (bearing in mind that it was already a week since the bag was left in the restaurant).

Given my justified concerns and lack of trust at that point, I got a lawyer involved. They phoned the restaurant on my behalf to come to a resolution. After a number of, again, multiple phone calls (being placed on hold, manager not being around, hiding instead), we agreed for MYSELF to send a courier to the restaurant to pick up the bag and deliver it to my house in Edinburgh. All the costs were covered by myself and it took me nearly two weeks to receive my property back.

Overall, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS...

Sunday visit, 2pmish and the place was near enough empty which was a sign to leave then. Staff unwelcoming. Order roast beef dinners which had no taste, beef was possibly boiled, not roasted, roast potatoes were soft on the outside, might as well have been boiled, onion and spring onion in salad order with kids meal. Food served to table by a young lady who barely spoke, had no training on table service, no offer of salt, pepper, nothing. The staff were seen eating, drinking and laughing next to serving area with kitchen staff in view and hearing of customers, just before the bar and kitchen staff were then seen smoking directly outside the open fire escape of the kitchen. On seeing me looking, they pushed the door too, I was going to take a photo for proof, no staff were in the bar at this time, apart from one female who had been cleaning windows at the other end of the building and approached a man patiently waiting to be served. On a Sunday afternoon this pub should have been busier but it wasn't. Food is expensive for its quality and it was tasteless, drinks are over priced, and combined poor staff attitude, its a sinking ship. I blame the management as they clearly have no interest, don't care enough to improve bar, restaurant service. Security cams might help provide a pic should anyone be interested in my comments for needed improvements. 5 star caravan Park next door, this bar has some work to concentrate on to get...

Bought food worth £70 for our family. Food came out stone cold chicken, fish was mushy and disgusting wouldn’t feed this to a dog. New staff, lovely man came out and apologised and was so understanding whereas he was clearly put in the middle of something he did not feel comfortable with as manager kept sending him out and refusing to speak to us. Manager came out with no sympathy, advised they will reheat our meals however refused a refund or replacement. Was rude and advised food was eatable, maybe for a stray animal who would eat crap.

Ps please promote Steven, get rid of your current manager, in replacement with Steven, someone who knows how to deal with customers.

We will not be back, the service we have received will take our custom to buy a...
