Second meal we’ve had this summer but first review. The first time in July we just turned up and were given a table with a time limit because of a later booking. This was late pm. Quite busy but very organised. We had pizzas -one meat feast and one seafood. If you get the meal deal you get a garlic pizza bread as well. Excellent pizza and we had to take some home because it was very filling. The second visit was yesterday where we phoned from the car when we were at Lake and were fitted in between bookings with a time limit of 2 hrs.( The time limit suited us as we’d had a busy day and just wanted to chill and eat before going back.) Again very busy and again very friendly. We were welcomed by a couple of staff who’ve remembered us from previous visits over the last years. We sat inside this time and they have a buzzer system in place which is effective. A new for me - I had gin in a jar! These jars, my husband points out , are very good for keeping the gin cold! Whatever! Gin was gorgeous! I had to have the seafood pizza again with plenty of fish and prawns to die for. My husband had pie of the day which was chicken and bacon- we got an ooooo from the next table from ‘ pie envy’! The pastry was golden and crisp and it was packed with meat. All this is being done whilst extensive building work is going on inside the main building ( not whilst you’re eating by the way!) So well done and...
Read moreWhat a find!! We were told to go for the curries but several people on the island...in fact we were told to ignore the rest of the menu. Oh my gosh, they weren't wrong. The curry menu only has about 6 things on it. We had the beef karai ghost, lamb and potato Madras and the pepper chicken. We'll, it was a fantastic choice, sweet chicken, deep earthy beef and spicy lamb (and I do love potato in a curry), winning combination. Vegetarian options available all gluten free. We did get a side of chunky chips (yum). Over a lovely couple of hours we ate, drank and laughed. But I must caution you, save room for pudding. I had the retro lemon posset, him the brownie with dulche de leche. The staff have the best attitude with a quiet confidence, brilliant team work and the perfect balance between leaving you alone to making sure you felt welcome. From the outside the village Inn doesn't look much, buts it's a hot h pitch of quirky rooms going backwards full of warmth, laughter and the TV room for the sports fans. In short a wonderful evening, Stigs curries (don't miss out) and enough alcohol to stun a shire horse. For the record the non Indian food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled equally amazing. Just go, chill out and maybe miss lunch to make room for pudding. We'll done to the...
Read moreKevin and his team are superb. Atmosphere is friendly, the seating well spaced, sitting outside but under markee with brilliant graffiti artwork on the walls makes an interesting surround together with subtle fences used as dividers. Very creative. Food has always been good. Its busy, so be prepared to wait, but it's worth waiting for. One of the few places we've visited twice in one week! First visit we had pizza and it was refreshing to see it was of the freshly prepared cooked in pizza oven type and not off shelf reheat type. Hubby loved the 'posh meat' option. Second time was for Sunday roast and both the beef and pork was cooked wonderfully with big proper Yorkshire puds of thick batter type which meant they didn't explode when you first cut into them. We even stayed for pudding second time round. And we wasn't disappointed. Both cheesecake and brownies were both excellent. Think we might be going back for a third time...
