The Quarterdeck Restaurant — Restaurant in England

We booked this place for dinner to celebrate my husbands birthday. The online booking system was very easy. I requested if they could do something special as it was my husbands birthday and they made our entire evening so special. The manager (a lovely lady) came and wished him and made sure we were comfortable. We were served complimentary starters by the chef. They also brought a piece of cake with a sparkler to mark the celebration. Food was fabulous. One of the best fine dining places i have visited. Had stayed at the hotel itself on several occaisions, and had eaten in the quarterdeck many separate times on other visits, when out walking. I loved the place. Apparently they no longer want walkers to stop by and eat at the quarterdeck, as I was turned away at the door, and told they had changed their policy re walk ins during covid. Great shame that I will no longer be able to spend my money several times a year. After reading some mixed reviews, we weren't sure we would be welcomed into the restaurant after spending a hot morning on the beach below. We had changed out of our swimsuits but were still wearing shorts and flip-flops. Anyway, it is an elegant reception but we were warmly greeted and enquiries were made and yes, we could have lunch.
