I walk by The Red Lion often but bumped into a friend who had just eaten there and raved about it so was pleased to have the opportunity to talk a visitor from up North there for lunch. We both had Crab Soup and my friend also had Fish Pie. Now...when they say "Crab Soup" they mean Crab Soup.....absolutely fabulous and not just half an inch of soup in at the bottom of a very large plate - no no no - this was a huge dish o' soup with pieces of crab meat in the bottom and two pieces of proper garlic bread. (I do mean huge!!) Honestly, the very best Crab soup I ever did taste. On to the fish pie.....tried some of it....is was a wonderful creamy/fishy sauce with large chunks of fish in it served with a basket of chips and peas.....really amazingly good...was exactly what it said it was. Cant praise this place more....great view AND all you dog owners - YES dogs are welcome too. Do go and try this place and DO order the Crab soup....

They were really good, and above all friendly, open and honest about everything and did their best to get us served in time. We just had another round of drinks while waiting and in the end our table's order came in just under the time they'd said, and in time for us to make it to the film without having to rush. The food was great too, so I'll happily give them five stars. Though it wasn't what we had on this occasion, I should mention that the crab soup served there is definitely worth trying. Update: Crab soup...
