I wish I could give 0 stars. We came here for my sister's 50th in April and had been looking forward to a family meal. We had made a reservation well in advance for a table for 9 people (so they knew we were coming). The service, attitudes and food were shockingly bad. It was an hour and 15 minutes waiting for our food, it was stone cold apart from the "sizzlers" which were burnt to a crisp. The burgers were poor and the bread stale, the "american cheese" was a cheese slice. The southern fried chicken for 3 people was 9 (NINE!!!) chicken goujons!!! It wasn't even busy. There was a 15 minute delay between the first meal hitting the table and the last. So by the time the last meal came out the first people had finished. It was quite clear that the last meal hadn't been cooked and they made some bull** excuse about not wanting to send the chips out as they weren't good enough and having the meal recooked. If this had been the case, why not offer that explanation as it happened rather than present it as an excuse after being challenged? Or even better, why not quality assure the food at the same time when it is all being sent out of the kitchen? When the manager was approached, she was loudly talking about us to her staff and then said that she needed to get some air, looking close to tears, she then disappeared. Completely out of her depth and childish. They offered us a round of drinks as an apology but Completely ruined my sisters big day. I'm a professional woman and just wanted a nice night for my sister, ruined completely, and no one cared. They were more concerned for their Just Eat orders.
Edited following response - I am taking the slanderous comments further. At no point were myself or my party abusive to your staff. This is a public defamation of our characters and I will be seeking legal advice. The photos attached are of the meals as they arrived (remember...the southern fried chicken was for 3 people). I'm still fuming about the whole situation and ruining a...
Read moreWe’ve visited The Rosette regularly over the past six years and previously had mostly positive experiences – hence my original 4-star review. Sadly, I’m now dropping that down to 1 star after our most recent visit, which was nothing short of a disaster.
We were there for a birthday meal (our 7-year-old chose it for the playpark – still the one redeeming feature), and it quickly became clear we should’ve gone elsewhere.
The food took nearly 45 minutes to arrive. When it did, the vegetables were dry and cold, clearly left under a warmer far too long. We’d asked for gammon with mashed potato instead of chips (which they did accommodate), and made it very clear we had a serious garlic allergy at the table. The gammon was advertised as coming with egg and pineapple – what turned up had no egg and the tiniest sliver of pineapple imaginable. When we queried this, the server just shrugged and said “no egg” with no explanation or apology. We had to push to even get another (equally tiny) piece of pineapple brought out – in a bowl, no less.
The underside of the gammon was completely burnt – blackened and crisp. If we hadn’t been there for a birthday, we’d have walked out.
When my partner raised a complaint as we were leaving, we were offered a glass of prosecco – long after we’d already gone.
It’s a real shame. We’ve tried to keep coming back, hoping things would improve, but this was the final straw. We won’t be returning.
My previous review, for context - though this was 6 years ago: "Really nice family pub. Always a table available and service is usually swift. Meals are well done, and they can cater to most changes. We often visit with someone with multiple allergens, and they have an allergy menu they can all of the ingredients with.
There's also a second bar, which is more for the "drinker" I think, but we never venture in there.
The outdoor space is large, and there's a playpark there for the...
Read moreIt's chain pub food. Vast portions of forgettable food cooked by people who don't care.
UPDATE NOV 2021 I have downgraded my review for the following reasons
The lady Lorraine does not care for her customers comfort. The Barman is the same. We requested a change in table as two of us were disabled and she had put us in line when the door opened the cold wind came in it was the beginning of Storm Arwen and though there was an empty table she refused to shift us. The outer door which has big glass door was not closed the most silly reason I have ever heard in a long time that people will think the pub is closed inspite of it of there being big glass windows and door itself is half glass. I shudder to think that we may have been treated in this manner because of our colour, cause others were given the table we asked to move on saying it is empty you'll can sit there. Mr Barman also refused to beleive that there was no menu card on our table.I have never been treated so badly in the other sizzling pubs l visit to date. The dish with crispy beef with sesame seeds(missing) with rice was good and did come sizzling to both of us who ordered. The Hunters Chicken did not come sizzling even the onions and cheese had not cooked. The desserts were the best of all. The place was also not well heated. The waitresses was trying to make up fot the rudeness of her bosses it was very obvious. The choice is finally yours if you want to...
