My husband visited a week ago and appears unable to leave a review so I'll have do it for him. This is written by him: I have to say I am a very, very unhappy customer. I have only ever been in your establishment twice and you have failed twice, first time you ran out of food.(See my other post) but this time I am gobsmacked with how I and other customers were treated, let me tell you what happened. Me and my disabled friend came into the pub to watch the challenge cup final. We were told it would be on the garden TV so we got seated and enjoyed a few pints before the game started other customers asked if the Rugby league challenge cup final was going tobe on and we confirmed it would be, quite a few gathered. then one of the bar staff came out and put the Rugby league onto the TV. we watched the teams come out and then as they were playing the national anthem, another member of staff, turned the TV over for 2 customers who had just entered the establishment, I asked why when there were at least 10 customers already watching it. He said he had to look after all his customers and the Rugby league was actually on in the bar. After feeling numb about what had happened we all filed into the pub. There were no seats available and we were squeezed in between tables where people were dining. If i had paid to eat a meal I wouldn't want somebody stood in between me and the next table. I had a word with the staff member who had turned the TV over and he said there was nothing he could do. So we had to leave as my friend is unable to stand for any period of timel. We asked a local if he knew where we could watch the Rugby league game and he told us, he even gave us a lift up to Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Union Club. The bar staff in the club were very welcoming and the game was being shown on a big screen. So we missed the first twenty-five minutes of the game and the tribute to Robbie Burrows, so I've got to say I'm not using your establishment again or recommending it to others and just a word to wise KLRUFC are showing some of the Euro games on a big screen. If anyone is struggling for a welcoming establishment to watch the games. shame on your staff for not even respecting the national anthem or a customers...
Read moreI stayed here for one night on May 21st 2023. I'd booked a twin room, as I was sharing with my brother-in-law. We know the Snooty Fox well, being regular visitors to Kirkby Lonsdale. It's a great pub, with a good selection of wines and beers and a great menu that caters for all tastes and appetites; and the prices are pretty great too!! On arrival on the day in question, we booked in with the bar manager and were directed to our room. However, what we found was a king-size double bedroom all set up for to spend a cosy night together! Now don't get me wrong, I love my brother-in-law, but not in that way, and so we returned to the bar to explain our predicament to the manager, who's solution to the problem demonstrated the highest level of customer care and service. The room itself was great. Full of that old world charm, with exposed beams and stained wooden doors and original Inn style single glaze windows. The bed was massive and very comfortable and the white linen was clean and fresh. The en-suite bathroom was roomy and the over bath shower was so powerful it nearly knocked me onto the floor!! 🛀 You don't get pressure like that at home! It was awesome!! But the best bit came at around 2.10am when I got up to use the bathroom. . . . All the lights in the room were off and so the only light available is a slight green glow from an emergency exit sign on the ceiling. As I moved to the foot of the bed and made to switch on the bathroom light, located on the bedroom wall, a male voice whispered hoarsely in my left ear, "HULLO!" I froze and looked around then flicked on the light, but there was nothing and no one there! But to all you ghost hunting oficionados out there, Room 1 at the Snooty Fox is haunted!! And the pub, restaurant and hotel come...
Read moreLet me start with the positive. The Manager and Barman we met on the first night, and first breakfast, we lovely. Could not do more for us and very helpful. Dinner on the first night was possibly the best fish and chips I had EVER had. Truly memorable. Breakfast on the first day was perfect. Really good coffee. We were the only guests and we were allowed to pick our time for breakfast so all would be cooked fresh for us. Last great point, the shower. Felt like having a massage at the same time as showering. The room was fine, but doesnt look like the photographs on the web site. This may be because of Covid 19, not sure. It was missing a lot of soft furnishings. The bed was OK, but very "noisy" and squeaky. On the first morning at about 8.10am the fire alarm went off. It was turned off withing about 5mins, but then keep going off, and being stopped, and going off, and being stopped for about a further 15mins. It eventually stopped but for the rest of the weekend we had a "beep" coming from the alarm panel outside out room which we could hear all the time. It kept my partner awake. In the room , directly over one side of the bed,. if an emergency light with a very bright green light, and I mean VERY bright. We had to use a carefully placed pair of CK underwear to hide it. Sadly breakfast on the second day was nowhere near as good as the first morning. The coffee was weak as dishwater and we were served much smaller portions. What happened? I know the manager is new, and I feel, in time, all these problems might be sorted. She made me feel she knew what she was doing and I wish her...
