The Lobster Bar at The Coppa Club – A Style-Over-Substance Masterclass Let’s be clear: The Lobster Bar at The Coppa Club is absolutely, heartbreakingly gorgeous. It’s like someone dropped a Soho House brochure into a Chelsea Flower Show and said, “Go mad.” The Thames sparkles below, the gardens are coiffed to within an inch of their chlorophyll, and the interior looks like a Nancy Meyers fever dream – all linen banquettes, rattan, and the soft glow of a thousand Instagram filters. You want to love it. You do. And then they bring the food. Oh God, the food. Imagine if a village pub in Surrey tried to go upscale by watching a Gordon Ramsay rerun and ordering bulk brioche buns from Costco. That’s your Wagyu Burger. Bone-dry. Dead cow dusted in salt and dreams, served with a few fries that looked like they’d been rescued from the bottom of a teenager’s takeaway bag the night before. “Gourmet,” they call it. Honestly, the only thing wagyu about it was the price. Service? Oh, it wants to be good. It means well. But it’s like being served by a pack of enthusiastic spaniels—lovely smiles, boundless energy, absolutely no idea where your Guinness, ice cream or coffee might be. (Spoiler: nowhere. They don’t exist. Like your hopes for a decent dessert.) But then the sun hits the river just right. The rosĂ© flows. And you think: “You know what? Maybe I don’t care.” Because if you want to sit somewhere stunning and be fed something that technically qualifies as food, this is the place for you. Just don’t come hungry, or hopeful. 4 stars for atmosphere. 1 star for the chips.

My first visit to Coppa Club in Streatley was an absolute delight. As an avid fan of the London branch, I had high expectations, and I must say, they were exceeded. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm ambiance. The interior was beautifully decorated, creating a charming and inviting atmosphere. Nestled next to the river, this particular branch boasted a picturesque setting that enhanced the overall dining experience. To start off our meal, we indulged in the seared king prawn, which was an excellent choice. The prawns were perfectly cooked, with a delightful sear that added a hint of smokiness. For our main courses, I opted for the prawn linguini, while my partner decided on the Coppa Club burger. Both choices were nothing short of exceptional. My prawn linguini was a true culinary delight. Meanwhile, my partner's choice of the Coppa Club burger proved to be an excellent decision. The patty was juicy and full of flavour. Overall, our dining experience at Coppa Club in Streatley exceeded our expectations. 🚗 Free parking

Really wonderful time at the Coppa Club. WWE we're there for two breakfasts as part of our stay at the Swan Hotel, and one dinner on the Friday night. First of all, the dinner was 5 star. We had the crispy squid as a starter, and then shared the pizza and the burger as a main. The pizza was the winner of the two. Burger was delicious, but maybe just a little plain. We had the crushed avo and poached eggs on the first day. The only reason for the 4 instead of 5 star was due to it being a little cold. I also had the salmon which arrived cooked. I think smoked would have been a better choice. Second morning was the skillet breakfast. Very tasty, but again it arrived a little on the cold side. Overall, highly recommended. The setting is second to none. The restaurant is exceptionally well decorated, and laid out in an interesting and beautiful way. We loved how they've created so many smaller spaces out of the whole.

Myself, husband and 8 month old son went to the copper club for my birthday lunch, it was also the first meal we have had out as a family and my husband had booked it as suprise. My husband had booked the partially covered area and had requested riverside as we've been to the Swan numerous times before the resturant turned into the copper club and loved the view as much as we loved the food. We were extreamly disappointed when we arrived. We were greeted by one member of staff who seemed quite friendly at first, helping us with the pram and explaining where everything was, she then asked if we were here for a special occasion, we replied yes for my birthday and her reply was less than enthusiastic she made me feel very uncomfortable like everyone says that and as if she didn't believe me, she was then quite icy with us. We should have known then and went home. We were then shown to the back of the resturant passing the terrace area which had plenty of seats available and told we were being out in the boathouse area (on the road), I explained I was very disappointed as my husband had requested partial seating and asked for a river view, she then said we haven't got any space we've got lots of booking for people who had booked the terrace, which we were very confused about as we checked online and there wasn't an option to book the terrace but also there were plenty of tables available she, she then said she would have another look, just peering over the banister and said no, but we could sit in the non covered area on the river. This would have been fine if it was the two of us but it was so windy and cold it would have been unfair on our 8 month old baby, which is why my husband booked a partially covered area in the first place. When we got to our table the realisation dawned on us to why we had been put out the back, the two tables taken up in the terrace area had couples on and the boathouse out the back was full of families, we felt discriminated against because we had a child, it made me feel so sad and angry that this was our first experience of dining out as a family. As we sat down the table behind us asked for the heaters on and the waitress responded that there was no gas left for those heaters, however the heaters in the terrace were working, we felt it was really poor for a resturant to let families freeze out the back whilst the couples were kept warm. We also over heard another family complaining at how terrible thier meal was and the waitress responding with a less than helpful reply, putting us on edge before we had even sat down. Once we sat down in the wind tunnel of the boathouse area, another waitress appeared, she was less than enthusiastic and rather snappy when we said we hadn't chosen our drinks yet. We then waited well over 20 mins for her to come back to take our order and in the end we decided to leave. I ended up leaving in tears on my birthday, for something which was suppose to be a nice a treat, the first meal out as a family and the first I'd been to since January 2020 as I had been shielding I left in tears feeling sad and angry that we were being treated in such a poor manner, i understand you can't put everyone on the river side but when there are clearly seats and all the familys put in the boathouse that is discrimination, the fact that we felt discriminated against was only made worse by such terrible customer service.

We are locals and have lots of family and friends in the area but we will not be returning or recommending the copper...

We have been here before and enjoyed many good meals, but tonight was a sham and one to be shared, if you don't know of the problems how can you fix it Coppa Club. We arrived on our bike, the place was busy, good vibe but knowing where to sit and order was confusing. So we tried the tables (with numbers) just outside the Cafe area, in a quieter area we felt, we tried to order using their Scan System on the menu, that took us to the website but there was no food to order! Here we go....So we asked the young Waitress where best to order because nothing really seemed clear, she suggested the bar, great! I have already been there once and queue for a drink, observed the Stoney faced girl behind the bar doing nothing to help whilst two chaps try and attempt to run, well make good a chaotic operation even more chaotic, get the picture! So I went back to order food, this time only to be told "we don't serve to that table", really why is that? Just a stones throw away from the bar, with a table number I couldn't see the problem. So, as per the suggestion we opted to sit within the bar area, underneath the Marquee, now in the noisy environment which we really didn't want, I placed the order and waited. 50 minutes later, having chased twice on our order we finally had an offer of chips! Not quite what we ordered, we also wanted Burgers with these, but we got the impression these were given away by mistake to a group of lads who were completely smashed, when you observed the waitress you could see she didn't have a clue where the food was going. Yet they took our table number, they seemed to spend an awful long time looking through the receipts, clearly their system wasn't working. No one we chased for the food came back to us to update us, until this new waitress came back and had to ask "what did you order", shocked and frustrated, why wasn't this checked, why didn't anyone come back last time. We received an apology and an offer for drinks, thank you, but it rather dampen the beautiful summer evening. We never had the drink due to riding on the Motorbike. The food was delicious by the way, just the whole operation was not executed well....

I wasn’t planning to write a review today, and I went back and forth about whether to do so, as most of my visits to Coppa Club have been enjoyable. However, today’s experience was so poor that it deserves to be shared.

I had booked brunch for 10:45 and was greeted by a lady in a white top who mumbled a few words in English before clearly stating, “You need to leave by 12.” Hardly the warm welcome I’ve come to expect here and unfortunately, that set the tone for the rest of the visit.

We were seated, and after 30 minutes of waiting with a menu of what feels like limited breakfast options, a young waitress finally approached us to take our order. Only then were we told that half the menu items weren’t available and that the coffee machine was broken. Why not tell customers this upfront? I asked for a hot chocolate instead, only to be told that wasn’t available either. By that point, we should have just left, but we decided to stick it out.

The food arrived surprisingly fast, almost too fast, leaving us wondering if it had been microwaved. Meanwhile, our drinks took 45 minutes to appear, despite asking three different staff members about them.

The overall service was abysmal. If the lady at the front is running the show, the ship is clearly sinking. The staff were disengaged, unfriendly, and completely lacking in basic communication skills. Nothing on the menu seemed to be available, and no one seemed to care.

I’ve never questioned the service charge here before, but today I asked for it to be removed and rightly so. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The management, especially the person greeting customers, needs serious review, and the staff clearly need proper training.

Coppa Club in Goring is a beautiful location with so much potential, and it would be a shame to see it go downhill because of poor leadership and disinterested service. Today was a huge...
