I stopped for lunch at The Tandy Sandbanks on a Saturday afternoon in January. It was fairly quiet due to it being a cold grey day, but it was warm and welcoming inside. We went on the 2-course set menu for £22.00, which was good value for a starter and main course. We also had a fantastic bottle of wine which wasn’t overly expensive, but really complemented the food. I started with the French onion soup, which was lovely. It was hearty and warming, and had a fantastic flavour. For my main course I had fish and chips, which was nice and crispy and tasted fresh. I do have one small gripe, and that’s the fish and chips came with fries, rather than chips. It wasn’t the end of the world but chips do go much better with fish in my opinion. For dessert I enjoyed a chocolate and rhubarb mouse. The sharp rhubarb worked well with the creamy mouse. My husband had possibly the largest cheese board I’ve ever seen, and I had to help him eat some as it was absolutely huge. The service we received was fantastic - all the staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was nicely decorated and had a lovely atmosphere, even though it was quiet. It had quite a similar look and feel to an Ivy restaurant, which is definitely not a bad thing. Overall, we had a great meal at The Tandy, the food and service were excellent, and I’d recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

What a lovely place for breakfast. Lovely design, amazing staff, nice music in background. I had granola with berry compote and bee pollen and my husband had toast with 2 poached eggs and avocado. I had cappuccino and he had virgin Marry. We enjoyed it all. Menu offers traditional options such as full English breakfast or simple toast and jam. Prices are absolutely normal for the area. We tried breakfast here and next door and honestly…I don’t understand why people queue for next door if this place is much better. Food was delicious, coffee was so tasty and that Marry… very nice! Next time you wonder where to go for breakfast at Sandbanks, try this place. And I am sure it would be worth it to go here at any point of the day. Not only breakfast.

The food was good, though not particularly memorable. Service was very quick, almost a little rushed, but efficient. The part that spoiled the experience for us was when another waiter came over and asked me to take my baby (almost 1 year old) outside to calm him down before coming back. He was crying because he was tired — understandable at that hour — but we had already finished our meal and only needed to order dessert. It just felt awkward and not very nice to be told this in that way. In the end, we skipped dessert altogether, which left my elder son upset as we had promised him an ice cream. Overall, it wasn’t terrible, but the way the situation was handled made it less enjoyable than it could have been.

Me and my partner stopped in the Tandy for just a couple of drinks as we were drawn in by the interior of the place. On arrival we were told that if we wanted a drink we would need to sit at the bar which was fine. There were a few tables in and they seemed to be quite busy with drinks orders however 15 minutes had passed and they still had not taken a drinks order so I politely ordered our drinks, one of the ladies behind the bar was lovely and saw to serving us our drinks. As we sat having our drinks, the man who appeared to be the manager reached above the bar to grab a large steel ice bucket, he then plonked it on the bar where we were sitting on top of my partners mobile phone, accidents can happen we let this go. About half an hour later I had finished my drink, you'd think that being sat at the bar with an empty glass it would prompt someone to ask if I would like I refill, they did not. Eventually I asked the manager who was behind the bar if I could have a glass of Prosecco, he half filled my glass, practically threw it on the bar and walked off. Another half an hour passed and nadine who appeared to be the owner of the restaurant arrived, all of the staff rushed over to greet and serve her promptly, it was very obvious that they were treating her as a "VIP" after 5 minutes of this lady being sat one of the staff behind the bar mentioned that they we're "concerned nadine had not been seen to yet" they were more concerned about making her priority rather than their customers . To finish the evening a tray full of glasses was dropped and one managed to shatter and land on me again mistakes happen and the person who had dropped the glasses had no idea that it had landed so far away however the other lady behind the bar just laughed and brushed it off. We ordered the bill and decided to leave, the bill was £45.50 for 4 drinks and a 10% service charge. I am not one to write reviews and try to tarnish a business and a bar located next door to ricksteins restaurant on sandbanks beach it is understandable that you are going to be paying these kind of prices however I would expect the service to be much much better, and especially for them to be more attentive to their paying staff rather than their none paying ones. I did not feel like a wanted customer, in fact I felt like they could not wait for us to get out of their hair. Won't be coming back again and it is a shame as the bar itself is lovely with a perfect location. Feel as though money has been thrown at this place without any thought of how you should run it, either the staff are inexperienced or just...

Was really looking forward to visiting the Tandy since viewing its Instagram page, as looked a classy/chic dining experience with the hopes of exceptional service to match, especially being situated in sandbanks.

but unfortunately couldn’t have been far from the opposite…

Visiting on a quiet Sunday evening, with a maximum of 2 other tables taken it took almost hour for food to arrive, which when received, what the order had consisted of on the menu, was not matching to what I was seeing on the plate in-front of me.. -very disappointing since waiting so long.. green beans missing which took till finishing my dinner to arrive, by request.. and “grilled tomatoes” which looked as if they hadn’t even been cooked. All meanwhile asking for the basic requirement of water for the table alongside our drinks, which arrived 45 minutes later despite asking twice..

Confronting the disappointment with the manager over our dinner, he agreed for 2 complimentary desserts for myself and a friend on the table which had the same order experience.

After giving the dessert order to the waiter we then received the wrong desserts, but didn’t bother to dispute the nice gesture. However the dessert then was left on our table without spoons which then came with the challenge of gaining attention of staff who were busy chatting at the bar, to ask for yet another basic requirement.

Whilst waiting to receive the spoons which weren’t coming any time soon.. I worried the toffee pudding was going to get cold, I touched it with my finger to test if it would be hot enough, I found it was barely even warmed and by the time the spoons arrived it turned completely cold anyway.

Thought this would be the last of issues, and at this point was looking forward to pay and leave and proceeded to do so.. Checking the bill walking out the door it stated that only one dessert was complimentary despite agreeing for 2 to be deducted as for the 2 orders not being up to standard. But at this point myself and friends began to be at wits end and couldn’t be bothered anymore to contend with such sloppy service..

Needless to say that I’m disappointed I’m even having to write a review on a new business, but I’m hoping that in writing that the errors can be absorbed and addressed for any future...

Very poor service. Visited on mid-Saturday afternoon, post the lunchtime rush, having pre-booked a table for my elderly mother’s birthday treat. We arrived and were ignored at the reception, and then ignored by the barman after catching his eye in an attempt to register our arrival and get seated. The front of house eventually took us to a high table, with high stools, at the rear of the restaurant which wasn’t great for my elderly mother. Having sat there for over 15 mins without having been asked if we wanted a drink, we saw a better table being vacated so I asked the front of house lady if we could move to that one. She was far from obliging and said that they might have a group of 7 who would need that table, albeit she confessed that there wasn’t a booking for such! . I said that if such a group did arrive they could easily be accommodated on the high table where we were seating. She said “leave it with me”! After a further 10 minutes and still no one having asked us for our drinks order, another (much more pleasant member of staff - Mika), came and said that we could move to the vacated table. By that time several tables were vacant. Mika then took out drinks and food order. We waited for our drinks for another 15 minutes, watching the two men behind the bar merrily chatting to each other and ignoring the order that Mika has passed to them. So, I caught Mika’s attention and asked her if she could get our drinks. She prompted the barman who then leisurely prepared our drinks and put them on a tray on the side of the bar, where they sat for another 7 minutes. Just as I was about to get up and get the drinks myself, the barman eventually brought them over to us. After this, we then had to wait far too long for our food which arrived just as we were about to get up and walk out of the restaurant in protest, given the appalling service. That said, the food was excellent, and Mika was very pleasant and clearly did her best to overcome the atrocious level of service offered by the remainder of the staff. We are local, but won’t be going back to The Tandy, nor...
