Great for a family day at the seaside. Ample parking depending on what time you arrive and on what day - you can usually find additional spaces on surrounding streets if you don’t mind a little walking.
Adequate playground for young children. Dog shower available. Beach showers in good working condition and public toilets are well maintained.
I counted 3 or 4 chargers for electric vehicles which was a plus as we were on 18% when we arrived!
Water ranges from tepid to bracing but isn’t particularly rough. Kids and adults enjoy splashing about in the shallows. And there are lots of water sports (paid activity).
If the tide is out you can walk around the marina on the other side but you’ll probably not want to leave the banks…
Beach chairs, windbreaks and parasols available to rent all day from £10.50 (August 2025). Card payments accepted.
There’s ice cream and fish n chips from the kiosk - it can have queues on hot days and might seem overpriced to some. Bringing your own picnic is fun or you can get a takeaway from the local cafe (chips are cheaper here for the amount that you get).
Life guard on duty. Parents friendly and encourage kids to play...

Sandbanks Beach was an absolute dream come true. We craved a relaxed escape, and this place ticked all the boxes. Forget the overcrowded beaches - here, you can truly breathe in the fresh air and soak up the peaceful atmosphere.
The beach itself is a stunner. Soft, golden sand stretches for ages, inviting you to unwind and take in the incredible views. We loved simply chilling on the sand, building sandcastles, and watching the world go by (or should I say, sail by!).
A hidden gem we stumbled upon were the beach toy libraries! Scattered around the sand, these little boxes were a lifesaver for families. Filled with buckets, spades, and all sorts of beach fun, they meant we didn't need to pack a whole arsenal of toys. Such a thoughtful touch!
While there aren't rows of shops lining the beach, that just adds to its charm. Instead, you'll find some lovely cafes and restaurants nearby, perfect for grabbing delicious food with a view.
All in all, Sandbanks Beach was the perfect beach getaway. Peaceful, beautiful, and offering unexpected delights like the toy libraries. We can't...

Ok, it’s in the UK so of course you don’t get guaranteed sunshine all the time but when the sun is shining…. WOW! Miles of sandy beach that stretches from Sandbanks through to Bournemouth and beyond.
There are excellent facilities for eating out, refreshments and so forth and plenty of public toilets along with a very big car park (but it still gets full in peak season so sunny days do sometimes mean queues to get in).
Being part of the famous luxury playground of the Sandbanks peninsular that forms part of the entrance to Poole Harbour, this is a very special place to come when on holiday and despite being a ‘millionaires playground’ prices in the local shops and eateries are not excessively high.
The water quality is excellent as the seabed shelves slowly away, it is a safe beach and has water that warms up more quickly than in neighbouring...
