I visited today which just happened to be their opening day following the recent refurbishment. I came with my Nan and my son, and I honestly have to say that the refurb has made such a difference. It’s a lot more open and airy, and doesn’t feel or look dingy anymore. It’s a lot cleaner as well, so hopefully they maintain that. We ordered garlic mushrooms, spicy prawns, nachos, a cheesy garlic flatbread, pepperoni pizza, kids meal, plus half a Guinness, J2O and large wine and it cost £42 - which included a kids ice cream and a fruit shoot as well. Really cannot knock the prices, and the food was lovely! Pizzas were 10/10. We had a server, I think her name was Louise (she had long dark hair) and she’d only recently joined the team, but I have to say, she was lovely. She was really attentive and welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. It really was a lovely “cheap n’ cheerful” tea out and I’ll definitely be revisiting following the refurb.

We havnt been here for a long time. So we decided it would make a nice change. We ordered our drinks, after being told everything my husband and kids ordered wasn't available they remember mine. A simple hot chocolate. They gave me a cup and a sachet of instant hot chocolate and told me where the hot water was. Then we ordered food. Again half the menu wasn't available. We ordered a sharing chicken selection starter. 2 pizzas and a roast. Our main courses came out before the starter. The chicken had the majority substituted to over cooked chicken dippers. Which we think was the cause if serious stomach cramps for all of us that night. The pizzas were OK but very little topping. The roast potatoes tasted like they'd recycled them. The female staff looked disgusted at our mere presence when ordered however the male staff especially from the kitchen were lovely and helpful.

Running down hill fast. Awfull staff service and shocking chef. Every part of are carvery was awfull or wrong even s simple pudding was too technical for the chef. Felt embarrassed for this place no standard of food no more meats awfull here's what I got and they call this beef. 21/9/19 16:00

Update from my visit on 28/01/2023... still a great pub restaurant as in clean cosy and helpful staff. However.. had the carvery which usually never fails to delight. On this day though...shockingly bad. Pigs in blankets are an extra obviously small sausage wrapped in bacon. Given with no bacon and hard from being over cooked. The portions of meat are miniscule.. honestly.. i paid for a large carvery and recieved a slice of gammon about 4 inches long and 2 inches wide. The turkey was dry so i recieved approximately the same size as the gammon but in crumbs and i was served 3 slices of beef about 3 inches long and 1 and half inches wide which was half made up of the fat as it was of the smallest of tail ends from the beef which ordinarily should have been discarded but was actually served to me. And the veg and gravy were all tepid. Barely any heat in them. Very disappointed with this.. surely your standards are dropping. End of update... Haven't been here for a while... fancied a carvery so called in. Wasn't disappointed the food was fresh and very tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Ordered a latte and it is self service with as many refills as you like. Pretty handy if your the nominated driver in your group. The pub is well maintained and clean. The staff are all helpful polite and professional and all well groomed with their uniforms. Decent meat portions served here with the carvery meal and a large selection of condiments to go with your meal. Ample parking. You have to register your vehicle on the touch screen just inside when you enter the pub which only takes seconds. Wheelchair accessible and seating. Wc's for male female and wheelchair accessible. For a large pub restaurant this is quite cosy and relaxing with several different area's. The meals are reasonably priced. As a foot note for yorkshire pudding lovers. They serve normal fresh yorkshire pudding and not those horrible giant puds that taste like eating a dry serviette. Highly recommend a visit here. Great for families and...

I normally rate high for this place but yesterday evening was the worst. I've not visited in around a month. The guy serving the drinks was happy and pleasant. Went up to get the food and 3 different members of staff had to shout 'service' into the kitchens. In the meantime I'm pacing on crutches because I'm in too much pain standing still. The person who carved the meat (bald guy) needs a lesson or training into being polite to the paying customers. Upon seeing only turkey or gammon I asked if there was any beef, he said no, I said I've come a long way (1 hour drive) and said I should of maybe phoned ahead, then he going on in detail why there's no beef, no apologies or sympathising with my situation. He offered a sausage as compensation for no beef. I refused as I didn't grow up having sausages on a roast, I find I bizarre. I was nearly about to walk about because of the way he spoke to me. He's nothing special and speaks down to people. This man should not be serving the public with a bad attitude like that. It's not the first time I've encountered his bad attitude. I felt in the moment that I wanted to leave and cry at the way and the tone he spoke to me. I'm battling crippling pain every day and he nearly made me cry. One female staff offered to carry my plate, who was lovely. You need more people like her. I will NOT be returning because of him. I do hope any others who visit this place to please don't engage in conversation with that sad horrible man, who's only skill it is to cut up meat and upset disabled customers....

Monday 30th June 2025 POOR COMMUNICATION

I drove 35mins with my 2year old for a carvery as I work 12hour shifts every Sunday and miss out on roasts.

As I arrived (a few mins after 12) I was greeted with "the carvery won't be on today" there was no explanation but the staff were friendly. I decided with a hungry 2year old we would stay and eat anyway as we had already been driving for a long time.

I ordered food and while waiting a large meat joint was put out on the carvery, i asked if it was coming on as i had just ordered food and the staff member said "looks like it".

Our food then arrived very quickly, the food was tasty however I was already dissapointed as my sole point of travel was for a carvery. As my food was put down the chefs started putting out other meats and vegetables. Within a few bits of my lunch I had to watch other diners tucking into the carvery I went there for.

If there are technically difficulties or staff issues I fully understand however for the meat to be ready and out by 12.25, staff must have been aware there was a chance it was about to be put out when I arrived 20mins earlier.

If staff had said "There is a delay on carvery due to...xyz" then I could have taken my child on the outdoor play area for 30mins while it was brought out or atleast given the option to wait/decide. No apology or update from any staff regarding the matter, felt let down.

Previous visits here have been great and it's clean with friendly staff however communication need improving between...
