Went to Order for a takeaway was greeted by a lovely Sophie who was very helpful gave me a menu and explained how to order. Ordered at the bar fish&chips(small) curry sauce& battered sausage and chips (small) cost me nearly Ā£18 couldnāt believe it. Said I would come back to collect in ten minutes, asked my partner to collect, once he went in to do so a young girl behind the bar asked if she could help once he explained I had been in and placed a takeaway order she rudely replied āitās not ready yetā! So he reminded her she was the one who asked if she could help. After all this I was hoping the food would make up for her attitude and the expense, after all you get what you pay for right? Nope once we opened it up at home the battered sausage was solid as was the fish more over cooked batter than anything (made me feel sick) chips werenāt too bad a bit dry though and the curry sauce tasted like bisto curry sauce you buy from a supermarket and the fish was tasteless.Wonāt be visiting again never! Canāt beat mr fish on Lyneham road unfortunately it was closed this day which is why I tried the Wigmore in the first place wish I hadnāt of bothered
Thank you for your āpoliteā response firstly whether or not your takeaway restaurant may of been closed on this day and you agreed to let me have my meal as a takeaway does not mean my food should of been cooked any differently to anyone else who was eating in. I told my partner to go through the door and turn left to the bar as this is where I ordered from in the first place if he didnāt do this that what probably be because it was his first time visiting. It donāt really matter where he stood to wait for his food as a paying customer he could of stood where he liked really . Your rude response clearly shows why your staff have the attitude they have. And why on earth would someone just come in and demand where there food is??? Unless we had been waiting a long time which we hadnāt so please donāt make out this was the case I never complain in my review about the waiting time this wasnāt a problem the problem was the attitude of your staff and the condition I got my food in. Seems like your only answer to this and all your other bad reviews is āitās the customers faultā and donāt come back.as stated above I WONT be returning anyway mate donāt run a business if you canāt handle bad...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLast night I drove 45 minutes to Wigmore fish and chips restaurant which was recommended by friends for their excellent reviews. When my friend and I entered the restaurant, we were welcomed by a polite waitress who seated us. A few minutes later, another waitress approached me and ordered me to remove my hat: given her tone and the fact that she had neither requested politely or more importantly did not ask for any plausible explanation/reason for wearing a hat,I refused to do so.
Upon my refusal and without questioning my reason the waitress quickly went over and called the manager. The manager explained to me itās restaurant policy to remove a hat/hood upon entry.
Being a manager and business owner myself, I felt the restaurant manager could have demonstrated a more professional and open minded attitude in handling the situation.
I politely attempted to explain to the manager that refusal was based on medical grounds and as a result, I felt very uncomfortable to be bare headed. He didnt want to listen was clearly disinterested in what I had to say. Instead he asked me to leave the restaurant in front of all the other customers. I felt both embarrassed and disappointed in the way this had been dealt with. I had only been at the restaurant for ten minutes before being asked to leave due to wearing a hat which is for a genuine medical condition.
I found this to be the worst experience Iāve ever had, the staff were ridiculously impolite, rude and unprofessional. I cant believe this is how they treat their customers.
I expected the manager as anyone would, to be more professional in his approach, whilst I donāt offer my personal medical information I have no hesitation to share this information privately if required. Whilst I felt there was a requirement here, what I had to say fell on deaf ears, it baffles me to see such inconsideration and lack of understanding/empathy especially when the reason is given.
I have had several fine dining experiences and have been welcomed when given my reasons for wearing a hat, never in all my experiences have I been told to leave. I will never be visiting this restaurant again: an awful and undeserved experience.
Future customers need to know how they will be treated when they have a good reasoning behind not complying to the rules, forgetting there is always exceptions to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went here with my partner. The service we experienced is abysmal, absolutely the worst I have encountered.
We had our mains and were quite full and so we only ordered 1 dessert to share between ourselves. We ordered a Sundae, the waitress took our order of the salted caramel crunch. They brought us a Lotus crunch instead...normally I would just eat it, however my partner does not like chocolate which the Lotus crunch contained, this is the reason why we ordered the other sundae.
We asked them to take it back and bring the correct dessert, at which point the waitress said she would have to charge us for both. We stood our ground, at which point she took the wrong dessert back and said she will discuss with her manager. 5 minutes later she comes back with the correct dessert, so we thought problem solved. But when we went to pay they charged us for both, even though they took the incorrect dessert and probably ate it themselves...
After about 15 minutes explaining what went wrong and them accusing me of lying in front of other customers just to get a free dessert (ironic since they tried charging for a dessert I never ate) they eventually refunded...
