A lovely Tuesday afternoon visit yesterday. Parking is easy, quickly seated in an area of my choice. The gentleman who carved my meat was very friendly and polite, and gave decent portions. Sadly no crackling during midweek and the gravy was on the thick side for me, but otherwise a good veggie selection. The beef dripping potatoes are crispy and delicious! The highlight of my visit was June. It's lovely to be served by someone who clearly really enjoys their job. June walks around with a smile permanently on her face, cleaning tables as soon as guests leave, and chatting to families and small children. I was able to pay quickly and easily, including using my 25% off voucher. I will visit again just for those potatoes and June's happy face!

Was not as good as my regular Toby Carvery. Tea was served in a cup, I like a teapot as you get more tea. I don’t know if I came at the wrong time of day ( 13:30) but he meat was dry and fatty, sort of like the dregs. I had to wash the cutlery in the toilets as they weren’t quite clean. Had to go up and ask for sugar for the tea. Had to ask for serviettes. Food was not hot enough, lukewarm and cold by the time I was a third of the way through. I couldn’t find any menus around either to see what there was. Could be very good with a few changes.

Disgusting! Unfriendly! Unprofessional! Dirty! Cold! We came here at around 5pm. We got seated at the table and our drinks orders taken, and was told to help ourselves to the carvery. In turn the 3 of us got our food. The chef serving us was polite, friendly and accommodating but that's where the good part ends! We started to eat our meals but noticed all the food was cold, even the food under the gravy! I told the waiter and said 'yes, there's problems with the heaters'. We thought fine, we'll give them the benefit of the doubt and they can sort the situation out and then we'll try again. By this point the staff were stopping others from getting food, the manager was shouting at the staff especially the kitchen staff (as the whole restaurant heard it). The restaurant was now filling up, some people were leaving and many complaints were heard. I went to the bathroom (very dirty and urine on floor in cubicles) and when I came back the whole restaurant was queuing for their food. My partner said whilst I was in the bathroom the manager came over and shouted to the restaurant that the food issue was now sorted and everyone can help themselves to a carvery. I asked the waitress why weren't first at getting our food seeing as we were waiting the longest as she shrugged her shoulders. I said 'were not staying and I'm not paying! She again, shrugged her shoulders and said to speak to the manager! Of this, I did! The manager said, if we wanted to stay she would push us to the front of the queue. I said that's not fair on the other people queuing, she said oh well! I said I didn't like the atmosphere or her attitude towards others and we were leaving. She simple said 'ok, pay for your drinks! I couldn't believe her attitude towards other people! My partner paid for the drinks as I wouldn't pay a penny for the experience we had received! The chef serving was the best thing in there! I have been to many Toby Carvery's over the years and this is the worst experience I have had!...

Absolutely awful!! Honestly the worst carvery I have ever been to! We came a few months ago and it was pleasant but now it has turned into a joke, scrimping on every penny. It was DEAD on a Saturday evening (which i think says it all). They now WEIGH THE MEAT they put on your plate. Your plate is put on scales and they weigh the meat they put on your plate, the amount of meat they give you is a child's portion! I made a comment about how little I had and the carver just ignored me and walked into the kitchen. I then made a few comments about the poor service, the lack of vegetables (only had peas and carrots) and i assume what was a manager, came up to the carver, asked what the issue was and he pointed at me with his knife and said "that one there". She then declined to ask me what was wrong but scarpered off somewhere. Saving grace was the gravy which masked the dry food. Waiter was a yound lad and was actually really nice. The rest of the staff were rude, couldn't care less and just shrug issues off. This place has gone downhill massively. What carvery WEIGHS THEIR MEAT for gods sake 😂😂😂 you wouldn't get this at a farmhouse carvery. Toby isn't what it used to be sadly. 👎🏼 EDIT In response to the below comment; I know how scales work, still doesn't excuse the poor service, unaccommodating staff and rude behaviour. The portions were still tiny and I had a huge lump of fat which I asked to be removed but he didn't replace the weight of the fat with meat. What is tour response to the service and...

AVOID AVOID AVOID....

DISGUSTING FOOD HYGIENE.

COULDN'T CARE LESS ATTITUDE.

Whilst waiting for the meat carver to appear for a few minutes I watched on as multiple BLUEBOTTLE FLIES gathered on all of the meats... this is obviously disgusting and could make any number of customers seriously ill (or, infected with parasites from the eggs BLUEBOTTLE FLIES are known to lay on food).

I pointed this out to the meat carver and he told me that "management are aware and we've been told to serve it or the meat will go to waste".

I then told the shift supervisor and the kitchen supervisor who was offhand and she still wanted to serve it.... AND, I WATCHED AS THEY CONTINUED TO TAKE CUSTOMERS MONEY AND SERVE THE CONTAMINATED MEAT !!!!

After about 10 minutes they telephoned an area manager or somebody above them who said "they will change the meat"

They have been breaking health & hygiene regulations and it is disgusting knowingly putting customers health at such a serious risk.... IT'S DISGUSTING.

They are KNOWINGLY SERVING MEAT CONTAMINATED BY LOTS OF BLUEBOTTLES !

So, they will change the meat but I can guarantee 100% that the bluebottles will CONTAMINATE the new meat because they have done literally nothing to get rid of the filthy flies or anything to stop this disgusting and dangerous practice.

If they do this in full view of their customers and happily serve CONTAMINATED food, imagine how bad their food hygiene practices will be behind the scenes in the kitchen.

AVOID...
