They don't tell you what the "house wines" are, and they don't pour these out at the table, they bring them over to you. Why? Because they'd topped up our red wines with water. When I asked to swap it for something else (a bottled cider), I was made to feel like I should apologise for swapping a watered down wine. The manager huffed and passive aggressively said "it's fiiiiinneee..." and poured the cider out for me slowly, as if I was requiring VIP service. I was with a group of friends and we were all joking about how the manager was just so passive aggressive at any small request we had. Even asking for some more water seemed to be a real hassle.

Also - a 10% service charge is automatically added to the bottom of your bill. So that's why they can get away with being rubbish. They'll take a tip whether they deserve it or not.

We'd all agreed before we'd even gone in it was strange, that - by the age of 30 none of us had ever been to Toninos. Now we know why.

Called in for a evening meal and noticed there was only one other couple in. Given a choice of where to sit we chose gordi's corner. Water was supplied to the table immediately, followed by our drinks order. The menu was large and was also supplemented by a specials board. Bread and oils appeared next. I selected fungi misti,a selection of mushrooms in garlic served with a crisp bread followed by a seafood spaghetti from the specials menu, unbelievable. Was recommended this restaurant so had high hopes. Unfortunately the food was bland, and for the price completely underwhelming. We had one of the specials for a starter described as n’duja and king prawns on flatbread, it was just small, tasteless prawns in tomato sauce on some flatbread. My partner had another of said specials for her main, it tasted no different to a pasta you’d make at home with pre made penne and dolmio sauce. The pizza I had was undercooked, missing ingredients and the only flavour came from the small amount of anchovies I had on one quarter of the pizza. Really...
