Cowes Yacht Haven — Attraction in Isle of Wight

My wife and myself really enjoy our visits to Cowes Yacht Haven, which we often visit when taking a trip on our boat from Ocean Village in Southampton. Boating is a wonderful leisure pastime for those fortunate enough to be able to indulge themselves in it (indulge being the operative word) and our frequent visits to Cowes Yacht Haven are always a great pleasure, due to a variety of factors, not the least of which is the always present welcome and help of the team at the marina, from the Dockmaster to the office team to those running around on the pontoons looking to see who they can provide assistance to. It would be unfair to single out any individuals because each and every one of the team are as helpful and welcoming as the next. Always ready to help with your berthing request (which at busy times can certainly put them to the test !) and to offer berthing assistance once inside the marina. The marina is always buzzy with a great atmosphere with something to watch and fellow boaters to talk to and exchange experiences with. Really, a great way to enjoy a couple of days. If I had to be picky and find one negative, it is the distance between hose stand pipes (you have to provide your own hose), so make sure you come with an adequately long hose if you are going to need to fill up with water - but hey, not really a big deal. This is a great base to explore the IoW. For TransEurope members it's the cheapest all states marina on the Solent but will charge for shore power. Safe and well sheltered with easy access. Bustling yet quiet at night and just far enough away from the town. A town that has everything a sailor might need. Marina facilities, which were on a league of their own twenty years ago are now a bit tired but clean and do the job. Talking of doing the job, I found no paper in my chosen cubicle so I ought to knock off a star but I won't because I really like the place. The staff are really helpful and pleasant. Went to the bar. Table service only, not enough staff to offer this service. One person in the bar expected to pour all the drinks while the rest of the staff (3 people) had to take orders, serve the food and drinks. Waited 10 minutes to order our drinks, then another 20 for them to arrive. Food looked lovely but we'd heard one member of staff saying it was a minimum of 45 minute wait and we weren't willing to wait that long.
