This was our second stay in the lovely ground floor apartment (Blue Waves), and we enjoyed it even more than the first time! The interior is stylish and comfortable – we really feel so at home here. Kim obviously takes great care to keep the interior looking great, as it had recently been repainted. The prosecco and locally produced shortbread are lovely touches upon arrival.
The apartment is surprisingly spacious with its separate living room and eat-in kitchen and the beds are really comfortable, including the sofa bed. I also love the bathroom with its great rain shower. The kitchen is very well equipped - I love to cook when I am on holiday, as I rarely have time to do so during normal life, and I found everything that I needed. The smart TV with Netflix included makes it really easy to watch whatever you like without having to mess about casting from other devices! The Bluetooth speaker was also very welcome, allowing me to enjoy music as I cooked.
It's just a couple of minutes to walk down into Cowes, which is lovely and quaint. It was a real treat to have an M&S foodhall so close by, especially now that our local M&S has closed! There seem to be lots of interesting places to eat, although we only tried the “Pier View” one lunch time, and it was lovely.
If you come without a car, as we did, the location of the apartment is great. It’s less than 5 minutes walk from the Red Jet passenger ferry terminal, and there is a bus stop at the end of the road. The bus service is really great, with a bus every 10 minutes into Newport , from where you can get anywhere you want on the island from the small bus station. We never had to wait more than a few minutes for a bus to get anywhere, and the tracking service on the “Southern Vectis” app is very reliable. I found the 7 day ticket to be very good value, especially as it includes the special services, like the “Needles Breezer”, which is to be recommended for lovely views.
Kim is a lovely host, being extremely responsive and she clearly cares a great deal about making sure that her guests get the most from their stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to...
Read moreTried to book via third party website but due some “glitch” (third party website) couldn’t. Contacted the Host, Kim, direct and she was very helpful and assisted throughout , and within minutes I had a roof above my head. Booked the three storey “Blue Winds” with the sea view terrace. The apartment was immaculately clean, all necessary and even more items was present. Immaculately clean, especially the bathroom. Felt very cosy and comfortable. Like my own home. Had some great night sleep and enjoyed the spacious front room, Netflix and the complimentary Prosecco. The location to the centre is just a stone throw away. The terrace balcony has a great view. Due the season/cold we couldn’t sat outside but I can imagine how enjoyable it would be to have a drink on a summer night at that terrace. It is not a random, usual place , it is a well presented property with a lot of character and makes you feel at your own home and it is run by a great Host, Kim. I just can’t thank her enough. Left very happy and enjoyed my stay. I would definitely look forward to stay there again and would recommend Blue Winds to...
Read moreGround floor flat at Blue Winds And Waves was disappointing. Was woken by the owner who was in the flat above at 2.30 am on the first night. We informed the owner of this the next day and that we were checking out early to stay somewhere else. We were offered no compensation at all for this - just a denial that anything was wrong and that no one had ever complained in the past. Most strange.
Positives: clean, relatively good order, good distance from the center.
Negatives: Basic Ikea-standard fittings. No original features or charm. Price point and quality - see photos. Bed and sofa bed not very comfortable. Small rack for clothes. RING security camera and microphone situation inside the property, so that it can capture guests (audio and video) even when they are inside. No views. "On street" windows in bedroom and living room. Very narrow spaces in bedroom and bathroom (I'm slim built). Hard floors in the apartment upstairs so little sound insulation - was disturbed by the owner herself! Strange kitchen in...
