Really disappointing visit to the Trumpet on Sunday. I looked online to see when they were open as I was very early to a christening just down the road and needed somewhere to get a drink for my one year old. I got dropped off at the Trumpet as it says it opens at 11.30am on google. I got there at 11.15am and waited outside. After waiting for well over half an hour for them to open, I called them at 11.58am to ask when they would be opening and explained it said 11.30am online and I had been waiting with my son for a while. I said this very politely, but was met with a clearly intentional rude tone, and the person on the end (who I assume was the manager after seeing her at the door) saying “we open at 12.00pm, I will open the doors at 12.00pm”. I reiterated that I was just calling to check as it says different online and just needed a drink for my son. She repeated “I’ll open the doors in a minute”. No, “sorry, the opening times are not correct online”, or offering to open the doors 2 minutes earlier, given I had been waiting since before 11.30am because of when it specifies they open online… nothing. Bang on 12pm she opens the door. No smile, no hello, didn’t even give eye contact.
Made my way to the bar, smiled and said hello but was met with an equally rude and unenthusiastic bar tender, who might as well have told me to leave. Both of these staff members were genuinely some of the rudest staff I have ever come across in a pub, ever. Absolutely appalling customer service.
I then bought a drink for myself and water for my son, I asked for a straw for my son and the bar tender said “they’re there” nodding her head to the other side of the bar.
It was a very hot day so I wanted to sit outside. My son was in his buggy so in order to get my drinks to an outdoor table, I had to leave one drink on the bar and walk out to the garden area and come back with the buggy to get the second drink and head back to the table again… there were 3 staff and I was the only customer in the whole pub. Not one offered to bring my drink to the table to save me two trips with my son in tow.
I was genuinely shocked by the disgraceful service I encountered here. The worst I’ve seen in a very long time. Do...
Read moreNot been to the trumpet for quite some time, probably a good 2 years since I set foot through the door.... And I must say I was pleasantly surprised.
The service was great, we were greeted nicely by the staff on our arrival, they even had genuine smiles.
The food was ordered and was not so quick that you could assume no care was taken, but not so slow that you were left waiting and wondering.
I myself ordered the Chicken and Woodland Mushroom Pie, this came out wonderful, nicely plated. The pie crust was nice and thick, not the kind of microwave nonsense you get and was well filled, my partners burger was fresh, not the flat pack type you get in some chains, even the pickle slice was big (she thoroughly enjoyed that).
Price was reasonable for what we were served and I must say that since my last visit to the trumpet I would happily return again.
Thank you to the front of house and kitchen staff for your...
Read moreWent out for a meal as quite a big group, our table got declined alcoholic drinks because the pregnant lady on our table didn’t have her ID, who would have thought that everyone going out for a meal would need to take there ID with them to a meal when they had no intentions of drinking alcohol in the first place. A shame really as we have been here for meals before and did not have this issue last time with people not having their ID. Saw several other families sat down at dinner who clearly because they looked a lot older did not need to be ID’d. If people were with their children they wouldn’t have to show ID to order an alcoholic beverage. More than likely won’t be returning here. Toilets were also more than disgusting. Dirty, broken toilet seats, no soap in the bathrooms. Toilet floors in both toilets were filthy and disgusting. I even had to put tissue on the seat just so my daughter could do for a...
