Village Fish Bar — Restaurant in England

Awful chips. I went in the shop as we was in the area and thought we would get their chips as we was hungry. Went in and ordered, £4.90 for a large chips. I asked the lady what sauce options she had, she advised the first sauce is free but after that they charge you. Didn’t advise how much they charge extra nor what sauce options there was. I asked if they had chilli sauce, she said yes and advised her I would like my chips with chilli sauce. Waited for the chips for 10 minutes, the chips came out of the fryer, I looked over and saw there was bits in my chips. The oil used was not clean oil so cross contamination definitely happens here. She realised I saw the little bits (presumably fried chicken by the looks of it) and picked it out with her fingers then flicked it on the side. She put a small drizzle of chilli sauce. Tbf at that point I just wanted to go so I took my chips and left. I physically couldn’t stomach my chips after the thought of all the bits in the chips. Like I said it definitely isn’t clean oil.

I would advise avoiding this place. There are better...

I don't like leaving negative reviews but felt the need to write one today.

Ordered online on their website but the owner said the prices have gone up and the prices haven't been updated so wanted to charge me like £5 more. I said that's not my problem! She needs to sort that out with her website company and not offer the online service. She continued to go on about the prices etc... we ended up settling in between as I had guests waiting at home, but any other day I would have walked away!!

Got the food home, fish and chips didn't taste as nice as Gipsy Lane Chippy...

I hope the owner sorts the website issues out and takes the feedback on board. Instead of arguing with the customer, just work with them and sort your internal issues...

Just been to the chip shop for the first and definitely the last time. Large chips were a small . 2 sausages, one was freshly cooked but the 2nd was cooked earlier and was dry and curled up(how can a sausage curl up)? Fish cakes were ok but cold and the curry sauce was cold and had more lumps than sauce. The chips were wrapped in one piece of paper that disintegrated on taking them out of the bag as the food was swimming in oil. Service was very slow, employees need to learn manners and how to smile.For £21.00 it just wasn’t worth it, stay...
