After reading the reviews and speaking to a couple of friends I decided to try this restaurant. I called to book a table as I didn’t want to just walk in and expect to be seated straight away. The booking was straight forward and the chap was friendly and efficient. On arrival we was greeted at the door and seated towards the back of the restaurant nearest the kitchen which was fine. Majority of the tables were taken which was a good sign. We was served by Tariq. The drinks orders were taken within five minutes and served quickly along with pappadoms which were plain and with the tray of pickles tasted ok. The starters we ordered the lamb dossa and one of the prawn dishes which we requested to be hot. Also order chicken tikka which was specially made for my daughter. All the starters were very tasty. The lamb dossa is actually lamb served in a parrota type bread and looks like a wrap, it was very tasty. For mains we chose the chicken karma sutra and a lamb madras but asked for both dishes to be extra hot. Also ordered boiled rice and a plain naan as well as a keema naan. The curries were decent size portions and you could definitely taste that the food was fresh. The naans were delicious especially the keema naan, the lamb was really tender and also perfectly seasoned. The overall bill come to just under a £100 which I thought was slightly pricy but the quality was decent so the prices as justified. I’d definitely be returning as the food was very good the service was exceptional and I also like the music which was calming...
Read moreHad two friends from out of town coming to visit, and they love their Indian food. They have eaten in restaurants up and down the country so wasn't going to book just anywhere. I read the great reviews of village Indiya and booked for 8 o clock Saturday. I was surprised how small the place was and how busy. Every table was occupied with a narrow gangway down the centre with waiters rushing back and forth. We were seated in a small waiting area along with several people collecting take away and were offered drinks. As we drank our Cobra's more and more people came through the door with bookings until the waiting area was packed with more waiting outside. After 35 minutes of this I was beginning the think I had made a mistake when a table of four donned their coats and departed. The table was quickly cleaned and set and we were seated. The service was fast and efficient with poppadoms and dip's arriving in minutes. The menu had a few additions to the usual offerings and the waiters were happy to answer our questions. We went straight to mains choosing Tandoori mixed grill, chicken Jalfrezi, lamb Madras, pilau rice, onion bhaji and peshwari naan. The food was excellent, portion size good and polished off enthusiastically by the three of us. We all agreed it was the best Indian meal we have had and has reset the bar for Indian food. I must also give a mention to the girls behind the bar who were...
Read moreFood great as always but on this occassion I booked to celebrate my birthday..for 7 people..when seated squeezed on a table for 6 so had to explain we were 7 adults and too squashed. The waiter abliged pushing a small 2 seater table on the end of ours.we were rushed through our meal..very quick service.. too quick between each cpurse. The place was packed very loud..and a rushed atmosphere. The premises is small and they have packed in as many tables..covers as possible.Astonishingly they brought out our coats.after our main..and I had wanted to have a birthday cake.presented.which we decided against..we were then asked to leave ..as waiter explained they were very busy.We found this incredibly rude. A birthday celebration was ruined .The owners obviously trying to squeeze in 2 sittings..we booked for 7..and we were hurried out by 9.15.waiters over heard saying to table next to us "when they leave we will move you there".Very dissappointing experience. The awards they have recieved have gone to their heads as they no longer care about customer satisfaction or good service and manners.I will not...
