We visited this pub today for a quick bit of lunch. We sat down to a dirty table as there were none clean and then were informed we weren’t allowed to sit on those tables because we had our dog with us. They advertise as a dog friendly pub so we weren't to know that we couldn’t sit in that area even though it was in the bar. We were then moved to another table which also had to be cleaned. I asked for a highchair and the one we were given was absolutely disgusting. Covered in sticky food. I then went to get another one instead but that one was the same so they clearly don’t clean them. We waited 55 minutes and had to ask about food and when it came out my chicken has half inedible. I had ordered the hunters chicken and there was no bbq sauce visible and I had to ask for more. I couldn’t cut through it as it was so dry. No one came to ask how our food was and no one cleared our plates after we were done. Our glasses for drinks came all smudgy 20 mins after ordering. All round not a good experience

Updated Review 22/12/24 Came in to have a 3 course meal with my partner, had the dirty fries with pulled pork, lashings of bbq sauce and melted cheese, and a great way to have a starter and delish nonetheless! Main course my partner had Fish and Chips, which was really well cooked, and i had the Hunters Chicken, which was also gorgeous. Sweet potato fries were really well cooked and seasoned, as was the chicken. Fish done really well, and chips were also crispy and fluffy. Dessert, the sherry cheesecake was to die for with the white chocolate and the raspberry is such a classic taste combo. The chocolate sundae in itself is also a classic and was also very tasty. Portion sizes here are generous, and food is priced reasonably. Lovely warm pub with a lovely atmosphere. Will be coming again soon 😋

Came here with friends for a meal and had the roast. At first glance it looked great – the Yorkshire puddings looked amazing – but sadly the taste didn’t match. The Yorkshire was so tough and bland it made cardboard seem appealing. The turkey was a bit slimy, edible but far from good. My friend had the fish and chips and unfortunately ended up being sick in the car park afterwards, which says enough about the quality. On the positive side, the drinks were fine. Honestly though, I wish I’d just gone to McDonald’s next door – it would have been cheaper and far nicer. Food: very poor. Drinks: okay. Edit: in response to the wagtail reply this review is related to service which was back in June / July. I have also added photo of the sick in the carpark.

Stopped to charge the car and to break up a very long journey from North to South for some food and drinks. The children spotted the McDonalds next door and was adamant they wanted Happy Meals and as we could not find anything to their liking on the menu we agreed. We got drinks from the bar, took them outside, and whilst I went over to get the Happy Meals my Husband proceeded to order our food on the app. When I got back an unfriendly member of staff came to the table stating she had been told by the manager that we could not sit there. We explained that we were ordering food. She asked the manager who then refused and said we needed to go back to McDonalds. We asked for plastic cups to takeaway the drinks, they said they had none. We asked if we could finish our drinks we had just purchased and they insisted the children sit on the other side of the fence (in the carpark) or go to McDonalds (aged 6&8). The manager himself then came over with a smug attitude, stating McDonalds would not allow us in there with his food. Considering both outside and inside of the pub were empty, you would think he would be a little more friendly to the few customers he has. If the food is on parr with the service we had a very lucky escape. Avoid at all costs. **UPDATE You can tell from the managers passive aggressive response to all the negative reviews he receives, how poor his customer service skills are. He has obviously got his back up that we didn't ask prior permission to bring the food into his "beer garden" (car park). If eating out of sight was an option, why not give us that option instead of suggesting our young children go alone and eat elsewhere where they could potentially come to harm? Your petty behaviour is what has earned you this 1 STAR HONEST REVIEW. If I could leave ZERO STARS I would. You also talked yourself out of business, as with our food order and more drinks you lost yourself roughly £60. Well done you. Great management skills. Your a great asset to...

For my 50th we were in Yeovil for a gymnastics competition so I decided to bring the whole team to your pub for food and the evening. (30 people). After eating we were told last orders was at 10 and we needed to vacate the pub by 10:15.

The staff and manager were stood watching us intimidating us to leave so they could go home early. We had put A LOT of money into the tills with the food and drink and having checked your website for closing time it should have been 11pm.

This left us with no where to go and waiting for taxi for 45 minutes as we had all booked these for the pub closing time suggested on your website.

The lady who said she was in charge was rude and the rest of the team watching us trying to rush our final drinks before being literally pushed out of the door

Terrible behaviour which was a shame because the food was actually nice shame about the staff and the closing time

Wow your response to my review is terrible and to clarify we had to book 3 separate tables because of the inability to book a large table if needed I can find out the names which booked the other tables. Yes there was not many people left at the end of the evening we had lots of young children with us!!! As for the refusal of drink this was not too he case and not what was suggested on the evening nor was it the reason I was given the night before when I was also enjoying a meal with yourselves and was again asked to leave at 1030! From my perspective your website suggests you stay open until 11pm correct me if I am wrong?? Either amend your website times to reflect your lazy staff or stay open until your closing time !!! Take...

Visited here on Monday 1st of May, just after lunchtime, 3pm. Surprisingly for a bank holiday Monday the pub was relatively quiet, for the size of the pub. Ordered our drinks, lovely clean pints off the draught. Ordered our food, waited 35 minutes and decided to ask how long our food would be, to our surprise it was brought out within 2 minutes. I myself had nachos and halloumi fries, my partner had surf and turf. Overall the food was terrible! I had to ask for more cheese sauce and when it was delivered it was cold but so was the rest of my nachos, my partners steak was undercooked. After waiting 35 minutes we decided sending it back was not an option as we'd only be waiting even longer. Ate what we could stomach and recieved 20% off our bill. Would've had pudding if the wait wasn't so long! To our surprise we were told by the bar staff that there was 3 people in the kitchen! One of them being the manager of the pub. On a plus note and the only plus note about the food is my halloumi fries and my partners scampi were very nice, apart from that nothing was actually edible...unless they make you wait long enough ! Can't fault the service we received from the front of house, which is why I've given two stars. My partner has been here a few times previously over the years and has never had a problem, so today was a big shock to him and we will not...
