What a shot — Restaurant in England

While I was optimistic about this place, mainly due to the reviews. I have to say I was terribly disappointed.

When we arrived, we was seated in a nice booth just between the main screen and the bar.

The lady brought us menus after 10 mins and then returned 15 mins later to take drinks order. I get it was busy, but surely they could have got us drinks quicker than 25 mins. Luckily, we ordered our food when they took the drinks order. Otherwise, I would still be there.

Poppadoms took 20 mins to come. They were stale. I should have sent them back, but we were now 45 mins in and thought, let's put up with it for now.

Food came about half an hour after the poppadoms, and chilli chips were very spicey. I have tried most of the India desi pubs around Leicester and have to say these was ridiculous. The sizzler was tasty enough but was not to the standards of say Broadway or Jungle Club.

Once starters was done we decided to order our mains. We had to wait nearly an hour and half for our mains, bare in mind the place is empty at this stage. We get our mains at 10.20pm, who on earth wants to eat a large meal at that time. I did ask the waitress twice and she said we are working on it and we had a large order from another table, there was one other table with a group of ladies on it and they had already eaten and was finishing up!

Mains came, butter chicken was tasty and was made for the Indian pallet which is great because I don't like the sweet ones. Lamb Kadai was tasty enough along with the naans.

When the food bill came there was a service charge on the bill which I asked does the staff get this and I was told no. They do get the cash tips thou.

To top it all off they had the football on so loud we could not hear each other talk, don't get me wrong I love my footie but people need to chat also.

Overall food was ok with slight issues with some items, services eas terrible despite the staff being polite, atmosphere would have been ten times better if u didn't try to make people deaf.

Would only return if I had reason to otherwise I would go Broadway, Jungle Club or...

Her knowledge and passion for the menu were evident, and she made us feel like honored guests.

The ambiance of "What a Shot" deserves a mention as well. The restaurant exudes a welcoming atmosphere, suitable for intimate dinners and larger gatherings. The decor, lighting, and choice of music create a pleasant and relaxing environment.

I very rarely write reviews but I felt compelled as the service given by Alex was and is exceptional, he is an absolute asset to the establishment.

I had a private party at the venue and Alex went absolutely above and beyond to making my family and I have the most memorable time. Alex wasn’t phased by having to speak to multiple people that were organising the event, any requests made he would make sure they were dealt with, he made everything feel so effortless and enjoyable. On the day he made sure everything went smoothly, made sure he gave us the best options and made suggestions that would be best for ourselves and our guests.

Even a month on I felt I could contact Alex in regards to my event and still he goes above and beyond to help in anyway.

It was such a joy having Alex part of my celebrations, he is so kind, considerate and respectful. Just an absolute pleasure to work with, fun easy to get along with guy. I honestly don’t think the experience would have been this exceptional if Alex hadn’t been part of the planning and execution.

In regards to the venue, it is stunning and i’m so glad I celebrated such a milestone here. My guests had nothing but amazing things to say from the food to the venue and atmosphere.
