We ordered the toasted tea cake as on the menu it stated that they were famous and as filling as a meal. Priced at £5 each we thought we would try them. On arrival they are not much bigger than a standard tea cake, and to insult us further they were only toasted on 1 side. This made it feel like eating semi warm bread. My friend complained and they toasted the other side of half of the tea cake as we had already buttered the 2nd half. They should have taken them away and brought fresh ones. I wouldn't have minded if they were a standard price, but £10 for semi standard tea cakes is not acceptable. I will not return.

Characterful, warm and friendly cafe. Excellent, caring staff who can't do enough for you...as long as you are friendly and curtious as a customer ! My first visit, cakes were recommended by staff with the best coffee locally. Great value for money menu, with lots of options. Clean and well kept. Has the charm of a traditional cafe, which I personally feel adds to the experience. The best one in SandsEnd for sure. I will surely be back. A big thanks to all the lovely, kind and caring staff. I have no idea why any reviewer would actually complain about the service! Oh, and the cakes were yummy !

What a brilliant place to re-fuel We ate in and put together a picnic here with sandwiches (incudes fries) tea and cakes. Service was excellent and the place just right, sunny so we ate outside in a very nice patio, with lovely plants (giant geraniums). I bet it's cosy inside on a wet day. Tip. There's a little free parking at the back in the car park. And a council car park adjoining it (£2.60 ph)

Whilst walking Cleveland Way this café is just by the car park and easily missed as you come to down of the cliffs into the village of Sandsend

The small frontage of this café is deceptive as we went in we were directed to the garden, initialling thinking they do not want us scruffs in the café, however when you see the lovely garden with beautiful flowers and large solid wooden tables ( not the wobbly ones). I see why everyone sent to garden.

As early in day we opted for a cooked breakfast which for 12GBP thought it was reasonable as included tea and toast. Bacon sandwich’s were about 6 so bit pricier. The breakfast was pleasant

The staff a young lad was very pleasant as well as couple of ladies, all very polite and pleasant.

As alfresco it was nice no smoking in the garden and when someone was a member of staff politely reminded the person who seemed “exempt” and “entitled” about smoking, then we heard Tripadvisor as a vague threat.

Thank you for you no smoking policy, it’s your café.

We...

Just to echo the positive reviews here. Great location, dog friendly, happy staff, clean toilets, good range of food options. Our first visit was quite late in the day, close to closing, so no hot food available - a fabulous range of fresh cakes, though. Our visit yesterday was earlier and the soup and sandwich was wonderful. Thumbs up from our daughter on the hot chocolate front, too. Decent car park right next to the cafe, as is the excellent and regular coastal bus stop. If you time it right and visit at low tide the sea is right out and you can have a fascinating exploration for fossils and then nip into the warm for...
